Man, a backhoe opened the inlet from Lake Powell Tuesday morning and the water was ripping with current at about 20 MPH, many boils (look like rapids but are from sand ridges built by water curent) and kids of all ages on tubes, flots, skim boards, boogey boards ripping the gnarly surf. It wa stoked. Last saw it at 3 and it was widening and slowing so we'll take another peek this morning. Been a couple of years since the Lake was open.

Wow, I wish we were there. I love it when the lake is opened!

I bet small boats are taking advantage of this as well....

We have been down there before when it had been opened up and did see some small boats coming through out into the gulf. I enjoyed it being closed up this past May when we were down as we could walk across and take our usual walk down to Pinnacle Port. I don't like walking through the chest high water and the heavily flowing waters.

Heard from my middle son and his three daughters yesterday and they report that it, the inlet opening, is still running in early and out later and is chest high in places. When we were there last week, the only drawbacks were the wading part and the ability of boaters and seadoers (rhymes with evildoers) were able to make it in and out thus ending the kids random play in the breach. I believe the opening is supposed to be open year'round thus the name, Inlet Beach. Maybe someone can clarify that, too. Hope it's there when we return in August and then again in September and then again, oh well, you get the picture; driving to and from Memphis ain't so bad when your true love waits. That's be the beach right there, right there.

I'm sure there is a good ecological reason for creating a man-made opening, but IMO, this is something mother nature should take care of.
