As an FYI, cell towers will be clogged with calls in this area, if they survive a disaster. You can text message much easier than placing a cell phone call. Texting will be your friend.

Add WEAR (ABC) out of Pensacola to the television list. They were actually pretty useful during Ivan when it came to covering Destin and the western parts of Walton.

Emails and using a non-local telephone exchange are also good ways to communicate.

It can take hours or days to get through to local numbers, so you can help by not clogging up the phone lines if you have other resources to use. Much easier to designate an out of state family or friend and let them get the word out that you are okay and it leaves the local exchanges open for those who need it for emergency use.

If you have a phone service similar to Vonage it most likely won't work either.
