Does anybody know why the county saw fit to put speed bumps on South Wall St. in Inlet Beach? This is NOT a high-volume or high-speed road, and for those of us who observe the limits anyway, these things are a serious annoyance. :idontno:

That is strange. Not a busy road at all ( I would think)

The squeky wheel gets the grease, I'm sure someone complained to the county about people speeding. That or someone felt like doing it themselves. :idontno:

I'm assuming this is sarcasm, otherwise you really shouldn't be passing on a residential street. :nono1:

even when passing, you are required to stay within the speed limit, so it does look weird.
Go rent yourself a jackhammer, and show your opposition to the speed bumps.

In my hometown of Nashville a community took it upon themselves to pay for and have speed bumps installed on the public road which passed through their neighborhood. It was a nice shortcut for a lot of people and since the speed bumps weren't a gov't project it ticked a lot of people off.
So, someone wrote a letter to the editor of the community paper suggesting people lay on their horns each time they had to go over these private speed bumps. It worked so well, about a week later those bumps were removed.

I would think that you can't just add speed bumps to a public road. Can you imagine a cop car or worse a fire truck hitting one of those not knowing about it?

I'm surprised that we don't see bags of people placing wet bags of quick crete on the roads in some speedy neighborhoods.

One of our neighbors called the county about this and got some ridiculous story about how it was done to improve the drainage on the road! :floor: Do they really expect us to believe that? I wouldn't be surprised if some money changed hands. :bang:

So water now runs uphill in IB? I'm confused, how does raising part of the road improve drainage? Sounds like someone who couldn't just say, "so and so called and complained about speeders so we put them in."

Shouldn't you be on a skate board surfing the road waves?
