It's raining here , and thundering. Very loud thunder. We have not had rain in over two weeks. Our drought is over temporarily anyway. They are showing a 60% chance of rain with it continuing after midnight. We could use a good soaking rain. Anyone else getting rain right now???

Hey IBD, I wish I could. This looks like it is moving off to the northeast.

We have an overabundance of rain and it's a disaster. :(

I've been seeing that on the news. You sure do. Our rain gauge only showed around 1/2 inch in it and I know we had more than that. Several places here showed 1 3/4 inches. We probably had that at our house. Our gauge does not always do right as to collecting rain unfortunately.

Ha! I had more than that in our basement. :bang: Time to stop SoWalling and get out the bleach and soap and scrub brushes!

You have that problem also??? Every time we have a long soaking rain or heavy rain our basement is flooded top level and bottom. That explains the reason for the drains in the basement floor. And if it happens to start raining and the drains being plugged we end up with quite a bit standing in the basement ourselves. Always a wet smell down there. We need to repaint our basement walls and waterproof them again. But it won't do any good until we eliminate the flooding problem. My husband used to vacuum the water up every time it flooded and use big floor fans to dry it out, he hasn't bothered in years.

Papa Scooterbug says they got 7.5" over the weekend and the lake is up 15" and will increase more when they adjust the bigger lake upstream.

Food prices will take another hit as a lot of crops are underwater!

Tell Papa Scooterbug to be careful. Do you know anyone on those lakes where the homes are falling in like our beachfront homes are falling into the Gulf?

Oh, he's fine - for some strange reason my relatives all live on high ground and in homes built a safe distance from the shoreline, not as low and close to water as they can possibly get! Childhood memories of floods and sandbagging less fortunate areas may be a factor.

I don't know anyone on the lake where houses fell in, but I am sure that if this rain continues some friends in the low area of town will be sandbagging like back in '96. We're away from the river so it's not a major problem that people/homes will be swept away, just flooded.

For Lake Delton they dammed off part of a big river to make a lake - the levee held, but the swollen river chose a new path that unfortunately had houses on it. I think most were vacation houses, not primary residences like in other states.

The concern is that with more rain many of the dams and levees that are not being properly maintained may fail. Why does that sound familiar?

We may have caught the edge of that red area out here but boy was it a gorgeous perfect temperature day today. Had a nice coolness to the air even though it was 86 today, winds were out of the northwest. I thought it felt cool this morning, 66. To me that is perfect.

It certainly "cooled" off today, but the rain has missed us so far. See lots of rain on the radar to the east in Bay County and on the western end of South Walton. From WaterSound to Grayton and along 30A looks pretty dry.

More rain is forecast for us Friday into Saturday. But I doubt any will materialize this time, they are only showing like a 30% to 40% chance.

Hello, higher food prices - they're already conservatively predicting 10% or more of the Midwestern corn & soybean crop will be lost!

This is why I don't believe in "100 year flood zones" - it's only been 15 years since (the big floods of '93) the last "100 year flood"!

I think after that was done they reclassified it as a 500 year flood. I'm not 100% on that so turn to your right and ask.

Just got a spat of rain. Everything is so pretty and green, of course it's gonna be muggy.

Gusty winds and quite a light show outside right now. Hasn't rained much yet but we are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 11:15. High winds and hail likely. Over Bartlett in 3 minutes and we are right next to Bartlett. This could affect 558,000 people here in Shelby County. Very windy outside right now. That is what our afternoon heating does for you.

Ew! The Midwest is a mess!

In places the interstates are flooded so traffic is being rerouted, and the rivers look like lakes. The estimate that 10-15% of the soybean and corn crops would be lost continues to be revised upwards.

On the lakes, the water is now so high all of the wooden pier sections are being pulled out so they don't wash away and even the folks who are on higher ground are sandbagging to prevent erosion and flooding.

Plus, all of the rain has overloaded the sewer systems so sewage is being released into the lakes and rivers. :puke:

I think of the drought, and you just reminded me of another drought...

When did you become the queen of the smileys?

IT'S RAINING LIKE A MOFO HERE!:clap::clap: A real turd-floater...I'm very happy. I'm supposed to go out on the lake at 5, and I'm glad the Powers that Be were thoughtful enough to put some water back in it first.

We got nothing here. Got very little yesterday. It rained all around us. Oh well, I am happy for any drop we can get. I've got River Birches dropping leaves like it's fall.

Hopefully by 5 you'll be good to go, nice and steamy.
