$4 prescriptions - good

A giant corporation that doesn't even provide a living wage and health care for it's employees, costing the US billions a year in government programs - BAD!

That profit at all costs corporation being in charge of national health care - GAAAH!!! :yikes:

No, I would not put them in charge of the U.S Healthcare, but I would put Wal-mart in charge of Fema though... they seem to know how to get aid to people quickly and effectively in a national emergency, i.e., Katrina.

I like Jubak's analysis. He pulled out some of the fine points that are causing a problem with government health care.

Such as.......

for example, the federal government -- the world's greatest purchaser of medical products and services -- is prohibited by law from bargaining with drug companies to get lower prices.

because........

These programs, like many government programs in other areas, were written in consultation with or in some cases actually by the drug and insurance industries. That "consultation" made sure any competition introduced wasn't too onerous.

But the best quote....

The Wal-Mart motto ought to be, "Make it cheaper, or we'll find someone who can." I'd love to see that attitude brought to bear in health care.

But, I also agree with Scoot. They need to sweep their own porch first where health care cost and their employees are concerned.

IMO the biggest problem w/ the gov't is that they make it too complicated.

Hard to get a good meal when you have too many cooks in the kitchen and 5 servers/chefs between the diner and the kitchen.
