Can you guys see about getting lots of rain in the next 48 hours and then having it clear up for a week? :D

We'll be there on Saturday!

What's the water temperature?

Ugh, I've been waiting for it since last night when I realized just how bad it was going to be. That line looks horrendous.

Love a good storm. I checked out the beach cam, waves look to be kicking up too. Be careful everyone.

We were pounded in Baton Rouge for several hours earlier this morning. Lots of rain, 6-9 inches in the metro area, and wind gusts up to 70mph. Fortunately, no tornadoes. It cleared out rapidly, though, and now we have blue skies, light winds, and 82 degrees. :D

It looked like a hurricane band it was so perfectly formed. I watched it coming over Alys Beach foot by foot. I was yelling at the pug to hurry up and finish his business.

He wanted to enjoy the wind in his face.

I hope it doesn't spoil tonight's going away party and birthday party.

I love the rain - makes me so productive.

I am currently washing the car, getting the leaves off the porch, and watering the gardens and container plants. ;-)

That's a pretty good storm!

btw - We haven't been going through Baton Rouge since before Katrina. With the population increase we've been leery of traffic backups. What's it like anymore?

I was expecting more rain and more thunder/lightning/wind!

Is that all for today? It seems like it's just going to be overcast/rainy the rest of the weekend. :(

Well, the traffic congestion hasn't improved much. Its still very bad at rush hours on I-10 and I-12. I-12 will be widened to 3 lanes thru Denham Springs, but this project won't be completed until 2010/11. I-10 east/west thru Ascension is very congested. :(

Thanks. I was hoping for a better report.

Imagine we'll take the Jackson/Hattiesburg route then.

I heard Blue Mountain got hit hard with some trees down and damage to Sally's by The Sea Store - any eyes on the ground over there?

A mini tornado (water spout) formed yesterday over White Cliffs building and touched down in the neighborhood of The Village of Blue Mountain Beach around 2:30 pm yesterday.
It went through my neighbors back yard, threw furniture to who knows where, tore through a fence and busted windows out at another house, and more damage to windows in another.
It cut palm trees in half, un planted smaller trees.
Thanfully no-body was hurt. Just shocked. Everyone was home at this time aswell.

You can see the path, pretty scary. It crossed over Village Blvd, then faded away as it went across Hwy 83.

Just wanted to let everyone know it could happen anywhere.

I would have loved to see the waterspout. Sorry it came ashore though and did some damage. There was palm bark all over one of the driveways next to ours where we were staying. I have seen one before but it fizzled out in the water. I told my husband that the cloud I saw Thursday out over the horizon looked to me like some wall clouds look. But both days the storms passed quickly but got very humid after that. When we left yesterday to come home it was a beautiful day. Hated to have to leave.

yeah...i am daydreams neighbor, and i didnt love to see it...it scared the crap out of me!!! i was on the second floor with my hubby and little one and the whole house was shaking so bad i thought it was going to take off! first thought was ok, no basements, head to tub. But my hubby was yelling at me to look outside the window, the tornado was right outside it was nuts! all i could do was grab my little one and cover her with my body on the floor. it touched down in my backyard, went around the side of my house and sucked out a window on the neighbors house to the side of me. up on the hill behind my house it sucked out vents, doors and windows and did some major damage to a fence as well.
As far as im concerned i hope to never see one again.
