I am looking for a small cabin in the NC or N. Ga. mountains for a month. Two people, no kids, no pets, no smokers. Not real isolated, can even be in town...for a month sometime between 1 July and 20 August.
Anyone have such a place; or have a recommendation for a place. Many thanks!

Not sure if this would interest you but we have a couple of log cabins in North Georgia. They are not in the mountains but in Elberton/Lake Russel area.
There is plenty to do in the area: golf, fishing, hiking, swimming, as well as cute small towns nearby.
The website is: www.lakerussellcabins.com (http://www.lakerussellcabins.com)

JLott has a beautiful "cabin" (a big one) at Lake Lure NC, a bit east and south of Asheville, and pets are welcome. If you are interested, pm me and I'll give you her contact number.

I personally love Lake Burton in the North Georgia Mountains. I am sure you can google the area. It is near the town of Clayton, Georgia. Beautiful lake and great fun white water rafting. The movie Deliverance was filmed in this area.

:idontno::biggrin::floor: Do you remember the guy in the movie that played the fiddle? I actually saw him in Clayton years ago.Skeery. Seriosly the town is beautiful with cool shops and there are great restaurants around the area. A group of us from Atlanta went up there for a weekend and went to this hole in a wall place one night. My friend ordered the beers and payed the guy with a nice tip since they were so cheap. The bartender looked at her and then the money. Gave her back the money and said oh hail them beers on me cause I ain't nevver been tipped before. You gotta love it!;-)

Blue Ridge, GA is a beautiful area. I spent lots of time there as a kid... grandparents were from there. It doesn't look anything like it did then, but still a very nice place to visit. In some areas, the view leaves much to be desired (shaved off mountains with houses :bang:) thanks to the Atlanta development mentality that arrived there many years ago.... don't know what they were thinking. Fortunately, someone stopped the insanity before they tore up everything. If you are interested in the area, send me a PM. I still have a lot of family there that could recommend a really nice place that is still in the woods with a good view.
