Lots of strange news out today but this was the weirdest. I had no idea and they have a Wal-Mart:shock:

Be sure to check out the link. The souvenirs??

Greetings from Guantanamo Bay ... and the sickest souvenir shop in the world

The sands are white, the sea laps gently and crowds of bronzed Americans laze in the Caribbean sunshine.
They have a cinema, a golf course and, naturally, a gift shop stocked with mugs, jaunty T-shirts and racks of postcards showing perfect sunsets and bright green iguanas.

Only the barbed wire decoration, a recurring motif, hints at anything wrong.

Welcome to "Taliban Towers" at Guantanamo Bay, the most ghoulishly distasteful tourist destination on the planet.

The only difference between the two locations is that Heaven's Wal-Mart actually has a cashier in each lane working the register:roll:

And everyone in line ahead of you will have price checks on all of their items at the one in Hell...

I have lived in Gitmo and stopped there many times for stores and fuel. No Wal-Mart, but the navy exchange is almost as big as one. It is by far one of the nicest military facility's in the world. Oh yea Windmill beach get killer surf to!!!!!! P.S. watch out for the Monster land crabs.:yikes:

Sorry.......... this was the quote from the article.

The United States' 1.5million service personnel and Guantanamo's 3,000 construction workers are eligible to visit the "resort", which boasts a McDonald's, KFC and a bowling alley.
They even have a Wal-Mart supermarket.

Who would ever guess a big wheel could be a crime stopper.

I am much more concerned about how long we are holding people w/o charges or trials than the available souvenirs at a place only military personnel and their families can visit. The prices seem comparable to what I paid to stay on a base in for a wedding in Minnesota so it's fair IMO.

It may seem tacky, but those souvenirs really make the day of the friends and family back home. During the first Gulf War my friend wore her pink "My mother wears combat boots" tee constantly.

I think that was why I emphasized looking at them. A t-shirt with pics of the tower holding these people for kids:idontno: I feel kinda weird about that:blink:
