Gallery Statement
Sawyer's work is intuitive first and carefully thought out before the denoument.
Of all the images she records with her remote control from her bed, she selects those with exquisitely minimal expression. Her personal journey through the lens is captured and
confidently rearranged to suit her discerning eye. Each image is an honest attempt to get at that thing we can't explain, but know when we see it: Beauty. Truth. Neither of which are often very pretty.
Sawyer manages to be truthful, unvarnished, and without guile in the straightforward graphics she chooses to work with. The resulting images are deep and sweet.
Sometimes she's just silly.
