This ought to scare the heck out of people. This organization encourages you to capture wireless network traffic and to submit it to them for analysis. From the news story I read, they state that there is documentation on the website that assists you in how to get around people's encryption.
There is going to be a revolution in this country one day. And those Ron Paul people are going to be telling us all we were warned.

I think George Orwell beat the Pauloonies to the punch. Even better, this is like reading about the witch hunts. Ridiculous.

Ok, I read the whole 21 page pdf. file and from what I gathered, they do not teach you how to get around encryption, just encourage people to ask what the network encryption codes are for public coffee houses, and to look for open networks. Then they show you how to collect windump files so they can analyze it. Unless you're a real computer geek and know how to analyze it yourself, I don't think the average Joe would know how to. I would also think that would be considered hacking if you took it upon yourself to view e-mails and web history. I would also think it would be hacking if someone tried to break into someone's secure network if it is encrypted. All this agency seems to be encouraging is picking up airwaves, if you want to call it that, and let them analyze it.
I am not passing judgement one way or another. I just wanted to clarify what I understand from the instruction manual. Let's not say they teach you how to break into encrypted networks and promote fearmongering.
I'd like to think that my business network that has the encrytion of a Bank is somewhat safe from the average Joe going out there with an antennae playing James Bond.

I don't think it will be around much longer. The website is registered to a basement apartment in Brooklyn.
I would guess this is someone phishing thru unsecured wireless networks and getting people to send them the info.

You're right. Glad you googled it. I snoped it and didn't find anything.
It does look official from the web site. Surprised it hasn't been shut down already.

But I do believe that this is true. It was emailed to me today. (Please excuse the profanity in the "comments" section. I was unable to turn it off.)
