Our internet went down about 8:43 AM today.

After some checking and verifying that it was their problem and not mine I called. I waited on hold for 45 minutes before I got an agent. I told him exactly where in their network the problem was and then was told nope, no problem in their network.

After much discussion he went off to check and came back and told me that there was a large, unreported outage in Pensacola (at the node I told him about) that was affecting us as well. (I think they were having an Oh Sh*t moment at that point.) I politely pointed out that it wasn't unreported as I was reporting it.

The net of it is our Mediacom cablemodem is down but I did get a $1.53 credit for today (for the hour I spent on this.)

No ETA on a fix.

I'm back up...thanks for reporting it! You should be here full time. Normally the service is out for six hours before it's 'reported'.

Honestly, though...I think you need to renegotiate your compensation.

They told us someone cut a cable (yet again). Out from 8:45-11:45 by my estimate.

Everyone be sure to clamor for your credit, it's the only way they'll be motivated to speed up/prevent outages.

It's MediaCON, not Mediacom.

And if you are in PW, this makes the second outage this week. Be sure and ask for two credits. Cable TV was out Sunday morning for about 5 hours too, get a credit for that.

Early this afternoon, they had a recording on their support line which said the outage covered most of the Midwest, and the South.

On a similar note, what was up with the long power outage early Sunday morning?

Like the MediaCON message and so true! They have given us daily credit when out of service in the past .. saves a few cents off the bill.

Every time I have to call Mediacom, I expect to have a problem with them. The strange thing is I've had great service from them. I must be one of the few lucky ones out there. When I moved to Seagrove a few months back, the little installer guy realized he was in deeper that he thought. He made one call and 10 minutes later 4 higher lever technicians showed up. They ran a temporary line from the street to my building. Two weeks later, they installed a permanent one. I have never waited more that maybe 10 minutes for service over the phone. To be honest, this is the first time I have ever receives any good service from a cable company. Go figure... :idontno:
