Spring
So....Spring is in the air. It is a beautiful day in SoWal. Many plants are popping up and some plants are ready to bloom, any minute. I hope we will stop and smell the roses today.
The first day of spring this year (2008) is March 20. The equinox will be at 5:48 GMT. In general, the four seasons correspond to the relative position of the Sun to the earth. Meteorological determination of Spring is calculated when the Sun passes through the equatorial plane. When going from Winter to Spring, the Sun is moving North, and as soon as the Sun crosses the equator, we call it Spring.

A mockingbird has been putting the finishing touches on a nest in my jasmine this morning. Yesterday, flying in and out with twigs and today with the white fuffy pompas grass plumes.
Glorious weather today.

The problem is that recent attempts to smell the flowers have resulted in a snoot full of that lovely yellow pine pollen and... achoo!
I'm so ready for spring allergy season to be over with.

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot
and the wind blows cold:
when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade. ~Charles Dickens
Yesterday the twig was brown and bare;
To-day the glint of green is there;
Tomorrow will be leaflets spare;
I know no thing so wondrous fair,
No miracle so strangely rare.
I wonder what will next be there!
~L.H. Bailey
In springtime, love is carried on the breeze. Watch out for flying passion or kisses whizzing by your head. ~Emma Racine deFleur
My wife just visited me and brought me lunch. She has been working out on the patio this morning and told me about all the flower smells she can pick up in the breeze today. She turned her chair out there just right so she catches all the breezes blowing by. She has it sooooo tough! :biggrin:

It is lovely in Texas, too. Some Yellow Crested Night Herons are nesting in the trees in my neighborhood now. They are really neat to watch.
