Just passed by 395 and 98. Looks like a pretty bad accident. Hope everyone is alright. So many bad things happen at that intersection.

I could not tell the cars were blocked by ambulences and firetrucks.

There seems to be a daily accident with the spring breakers.

Just passed the accident myself about 1 hour ago - looked like a convertible BMW/Mercedes hit a car and got hit in back by a black mini SUV (little Honda or something??) kind of looking car. There were ambulances on the scene and it looked like they were taking someone out of the SUV.

Yesterday around 5pm or so, I saw an SUV almost hit a bicyclist in the crosswalk when he turned right in front of the crossing bicycler. Maybe it's time for a traffic light there?

Since that SUV should have had to stop for the stop sign anyway, a red light wouldn't have made a difference.
I think the accident was at the other end of 395, where it intersects w/ 98 and there is already a stoplight there. :idontno:

Yes...and even though one can put a crick in their neck looking at the light when exiting north 395, it works well when people obey it. Accidents much less frequently than before.
Sorry, I'm at home today and my source of info is working in NoWal, so I can't get details. I just hope whoever it is will be OK.

Remember when there were deputies sitting the with their lights on 24 hours a day?

Not sure if this is related, but here's some photos and a video of someone being loaded into the helicopter at the Fire Station on 395.

Of course. And then the lights were installed.
395/98 has ALWAYS been dangerous, even when 98 was a two-lane, because 395 crosses at an angle. If you are crossing from 395 north, an eastbound car will arrive much sooner than most folks seem to think it will. :yikes:
And then there are those who don't stop at all. :pissed:

Oh gee, this isn't good. :(
My other response was to reply about the deputies that used to be stationed there. I should have quoted it.

Yep, the fire department was blocking the road and I couldn't pass, so I did what everyone always asks for and took pics.
Sorry, it's a cell phone camera hence the lovely quality.

DVDs.
The deputies were trying to get traffic to pay attention until the traffic lights were installed.

I was told that three people were thrown from the car and that all four who had been in it died. I certainly hope I am talking about the same accident. I'd hate to think there was more than one.

My friend was the driver of the Mercedes. She was in the eastbound lane completely stopped at the red light. The SUV hit her from behind and pushed her into the car ahead. The SUV was going 70 m.p.h. and the driver did not brake at all before hitting my friend's car. She was knocked out for 20 min. and air flighted to Pensacola, but is fine. No major injuries--just sore and a few cuts.
We don't know about the other driver and if there is a reason why he did not stop (illness, sleep, drunk, etc.) Also don't know his condition.
It is a miracle that my friend wasn't seriously hurt. Says something about the integrity of a Mercedes.

Probably on the phone. :bang: Glad your friend was not seriously hurt and wish her a full recovery.
