My sympathy goes out to all who use the Blue Mountain Beach public access. Attached is what you get to walk by to the east(will post one at a time):

Pilings put in place for another seawall to be built east of Blue Mtn. public beaach access.

As I read the postings of the TDC or county announcements from after Hurricane Dennis, I thought any/all of the seawalls are to be temporary just to hold off any additional erosion while dunes come back naturally or from scraping. My understanding is that county approval must be acquired to get approval to make these permanent.
These do not look like they are temporary to me.

October 7, 2005 view looking west from Blue Mtn. Beach public access.
Pilings in distance presumably to be future seawall.
Sand bank in foreground probably covers a seawall just constructed to protect condo on edge of eroded dune- see second picture of same condo on edge.

In this picture, you can see where the lower horizontal piece of aluminum support is missing. A two foot section broke at the bolt after Hurr. Rita. These are the same people who left 2-4 large 20'+ long sections of leftover seawall on the beach before Rita blew through. :( What thoughtful people.

Well I guess these people just need to let their muli-million dollar investment fall down the hill like their neighbor.
By the way where's your glass house located??

I live in Hurricane Alley. Why would I have or want a house of glass, a Gulf-front home, or a lot which is sure to change drastically with time? Refer to the first sentence.

So you wouldn't have to cross 30-A?

Quintevery beach town in Florida that has used seawalls has become an eyesore. when the waves come calling during the next big storm, the seawalls will wash away. too bad the state doesn't give fair market value for the first two house rows and we can stop the oceanfront from looking like a patchwork of Home Depot projects.

steelemama will appreciate this one...
This thread brought to mind a Sunday school song I have not sung since I was five years old...
"Don't build your house on the sandy land.
Don't build it to near the shore.
Well it mike look kind of nice,
But you'll have to build it twice.
Then you'll have to build your house once more."
Silly, I know, but oh so true.
I guess we could add another line to the song: "unless it's a multi-million dollar investment."

So glad you remember something!
"You gotta build your house on the Rock,
Make a firm foundation on a solid spot
Oh, the storms may come and go but the peace of God you will know." :clap_1:
