Can someone post the order in which the "beaches" fall from Sandestin eastward to PCB? We are making plans to vacation in Seagrove and I am not familiar with the area outside of Destin. I am getting confused exactly where the different communities fall, although I understand there is not much seperation, if any in some of the communities.

Seagrove is smack dab in the middle of 30-A. 30-A is such a small area...but such a beautiful drive!
Going east you drive through Santa Rosa Beach, Blue Mountain Beach, Grayton Beach, Watercolor, Seaside, Seagrove, Camp Creek, Watersound, Alys, Seacrest, Rosemary
I may have left some out :idontno:

Driving east, you pass through Watersound before Camp Creek, then Seacrest both before and after Alys, which is stuck in the middle of Seacrest.

I've looked for a map but can't find one. The problem is that some of these are neighborhoods, some are beaches, some are the names of developments, etc. Some maps show just the beach names, some maps leave out some of the developments, etc.

Dune Allen is west of Santa Rosa Beach.

go to www.beachesofsouthwalton.com and ask for their vacation guide and maps of the area. You will also find information there about accommodations.

From the SOWAL.com homepage, I think the beaches are listed in geographic order, east to west.

What is SoWal?
Inlet Beach, Rosemary Beach, Seacrest Beach, WaterSound Beach, Camp Creek, Seagrove Beach, Seaside, WaterColor, Grayton Beach, Blue Mountain Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, Dune Allen Beach, Sandestin, Miramar Beach, Destin - When you’ve said SoWal, you’ve said it all !

You can also get your bearings in South Walton by knowing the order of the Coastal Dune Lakes (15 named here -- we could debate this number). Most of the ones on 30-A have a small sign. From west to east: Fuller, Morris, Campbell, Stallworth, Allen, Oyster, Draper, Big Red Fish, Little Red Fish, Alligator, Western, Eastern, Deer, Camp Creek and Lake Powell. (Most of Lake Powell is in Bay County now, but a sliver extends into Walton)

Their map is the most non-intuitive ever.

You pretty much have the same "beaches" listed as are on the Beaches of South Walton map, except that it includes Seascape and excludes Camp Creek. Camp Creek is actually east of WaterSound. No criticism intended; just an observation.

It's all SO confusing, and I've been coming here about ten years. Imagine being a newbie. Maybe we do need signs, just not those horrid blue things.

If you'll go to the 30-A website at http://www.30a.com/ you'll find absolutely everything you ever wanted to know about 30-a and more! I haven't been on the site in a while, but I just checked it out again and it's bigger, better and more informative than ever! It includes events, restaurants, activities, what's going on at the various hotspots, etc. Plus, if you go to the far right column and scroll down, you'll find a map with all of the beaches, plus a link to an interactive map.

If you haven't checked it out yet, I highly recommend it!

Hey, Just be sure to take off Destin. It is in Okaloosa County. No part of Walton County or South Walton has ever been in Destin. Destin is an incorporated city in Okaloosa County. Some folks have used it as part of their address during the past few years, but that has not been geographically correct. Most have or are updating their addresses to Miramar Beach or Sandestin.

;-)...don't tell Mr. K about my secret stash. He'd make me pay taxes on it.

FTLOG...what happened to the sense of adventure and exploring? We are talking about 30A here, not some huge city in Texas!

this is a bike tour that I like taking you through the major beach communities, its pretty neat to navigate through this, but I see it isn't quite up to date.

no need to know all the beach communities - they are basically neighborhoods. but you should be somewhat familiar with the major ones. dune allen, blue mountain beach, grayton beach, etc.

You better stay on the downlow or a jolly blue giant may sprout in your backyard.
