Hi,
Does anyone know if the Walton County Sheriff's Department has a Reserve Officer Program? Or the Defuniak Police Department? If so, who should I get in touch with?
Thanks,
Capehorn

Walton S.O. has a reserve unit. Not sure about DeFuniak.

The Office of the City Marshal, DeFuniak Springs Police operates such a program. Lt. Mike Barker is in charge of it, their number is 850-892-8511.

If I'm not mistaken, Tom Cooper manages the auxillary for the SO, at least he used to. I don't have a daytime number (and my "source" for such things is out of pocket at the moment), but Tom is chief of security at Sandestin.

I was telling Rapunzel last weekend how I wish I could be deputized and start a crusade against stupidity on 30A, be it film crews obstructing traffic in golf carts or people passing on a double line by Watersound before streaking away at about 70 MPH into the night:bang:

That would be funn. Unfortunately, you'd likely be stuck walking around high school football games wearing 20 pounds of equipment and a gun, breaking up fights, for free. ;-)

If firing a gun into the air is a recognized tactical maneuver to break up a fight, sign me up.

I think the driving range is fitting, since it seems thats all our Sheriff Dept. does.....Drive up/down Hwy 331 from SRB to FLorala and count how many you see.....it's a parade.
