Tallahassee–Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to attend private fundraisers in Key Biscayne, Parkland and Boca Raton today. Perhaps during his time in Florida, Bill Clinton can explain to Floridians what the definition of ‘campaign’ is, because Senator Hillary Clinton doesn’t seem to get it—she continues to ignore Floridians unless they can provide a hefty campaign contribution and completely turns her back on Florida voters right up until the moment she realizes she needs Florida’s delegates to secure her nomination.
“Time and time again, Floridians watch Democrat presidential candidates sneak in the back door to raise money after forsaking Florida voters,” noted Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer.
“Senator Clinton is the ultimate hypocrite, sending her husband in to campaign for her because she won’t face Florida voters herself,” said Chairman Greer. “Florida is a must-win state, yet unlike the Republican candidates who have held hundreds of campaign events across the state, the Democrat candidates still refuse to campaign here.”
“Despite her timely and politically convenient rhetoric about every vote counting, Senator Clinton’s concern for Florida’s voters ends once the check is written,” continued Greer. “Even Bill Clinton should agree that this isn’t exactly what the definition of ‘campaign’ is.”
She Didn’t Need Florida Then–September 2007
“The pledge would prevent the Democratic candidates from actively campaigning in Michigan and Florida.” (Democrats to Avoid Fla., Mich.; Four Early-Primary States Get Candidates to Sign Pledge, Washington Post, September 2, 2007)
But She Needs Florida Now–February 2008
“After eight losses in a row and no victories in sight this month, Hillary Clinton's campaign renewed calls Wednesday for the votes in Florida and Michigan to count toward delegates that would help her catch Barack Obama.” (Clinton calls for Florida, Michigan votes to be applied to delegate count, Miami Herald, February 13, 2008)
On this trip to Florida will Clinton finally explain the definition of campaign …?
“It depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is. If the – if he – if "is" means is and never has been that is not – that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement." (Clinton's Grand Jury Testimony, August 17, 1998).
...Unlikely.
