View Full Version : Partisan Thoughts on McCain "Scandal"

My thoughts after reading the NY Times article and listening to the press conference: This is b.s., below the belt. It makes me sad. I hope it blows over quickly.
Everyone knows I support Barack Obama for President. I've not been subtle in my support. But this is irrelevant.

I'm still trying to find any substance to this story. All I see are "possible link" and a lot of "might haves".

I agree. I support Obama but this is completely unnecessary. There are far too many actual issues to be discussed. This election is too important to be bogged down in rumors and half-truths.

What odd timing - a dirty smear campaign accusing a candidate of sexual impropriety and dishonesty..............so they can't take the moral high ground when running against a candidate w/ a long history of sexual impropriety and dishonesty...........possibly making said candidate less politically damaged.
Desperate last ditch attempt..................who could possibly benefit?
Per MSNBC: Robert Bennett, a Washington attorney representing McCain, said McCain's staff provided the Times with "approximately 12 instances where Senator McCain took positions adverse to this lobbyist's clients and her public relations firm's clients," but none of the examples were included in the paper's story. "There is no evidence that John McCain ever breached the public trust and that is the issue and the only issue."

Speaking of non-issues....has anyone seen Bush dancing in Liberia with the woman in the Kente outfit on CNN? Oh my god....:floor: He's doing the white guy head bob at first, and then it's like a lightbulb comes on and he says "what the heck, I'm sick of acting dignified and I want to boogie," to himself and he breaks into the Kennebunkport Kwasa Kwasa.... I must find video!

That sounds hysterical. Please do!
I don't think McCain is such a great guy.
But when judging a candidate, all this stuff, the ludicrous Obama smearing too, is not exactly the information I need with which to form an opinion.

Can you imagine what the tabloids would dig up if McCain chose Sorry Charlie for a running mate?

As a long time subscriber to the Times I'm disappointed but not surprised.
Like the Betray Us ad I think this too will backfire.

Notice that the paper could not give one single named source nor any details, yet, they ran it, anyway.
I'm calling BS on this one...

Interesting theory, but it will be dismissed along with the upcoming NYT article that reveals he is also really the "anti-Christ."

I heard that the NYT editor that was quoted saying that they stand by their story left his wife of 20 years after having an affair and getting another women pregnant. He married the pregnant one. That strikes me as somewhat ridiculous in this case.
Sometimes I wish the newspeople had to stand up to as much scrutiny as the people in the stories they cover.

Ok, as there are other opinions in this thread, please allow me to add one. Where else have we seen issues with an intern that someone/anyone running might think up a line to smear another candidate. :idontno:
I don't think this is coming from the Republican side at all. It is a certain female candidate who has already publicly sworn that she would fight tooth and nail right to the end for votes. ;-) She doesn't necessarily have to get them from Obama if she can get Republicans who don't like a bible-thumper to start looking for someone else to vote for. Just think about it. It could happen.
OK....flog away. I can take it.

They showed the first part of this on CNN. He dances like a DeKE ... oops, I guess that's because he was one. Every DKE chapter I've known has been full of party animals, and apparently Bush was one in his younger days.
That head-bobbing thing he does used to be the signal that one did drugs, or at least, that was the signal at Tulane.
