My name is Tim Yandell and I am running for Walton County School Board, District 1. I would like to tell you a bit about myself.

My family has lived in Walton County since the late 1800’s. The farthest that I personally can remember is Dewey and Elizabeth Infinger, my great grandmother and grandfather. In fact, my kids are fourth generation to attend Bay Elementary School…fifth if you count my great granny cooking in the cafeteria as “attending!”

After enjoying the roving life of a military brat, my family returned to Pt Washington in 1983. Upon graduating from Freeport High School in 1990, I attended college at Troy University and earned a degree in Business Management and eventually a M.B.A.

Although Troy was an excellent educational experience, the most significant success I accomplished was meeting my wife. Lisa and I married and had our son Reed in 1995. After graduation we moved around some, returning home to Walton County around 1998. Our daughter, Quinn, made her appearance in 2001…a true local! Lisa has been employed as an elementary teacher since 2004. She is currently a second grade teacher at Bay Elementary.

Since returning to the area I have been employed as a condominium association manager for what was then Abbott Resorts, Front Office Supervisor for Seaside and Realtor for Century 21 Beach Realty. I enjoy being on the coaching staff of numerous recreational league teams and getting the opportunity to work with the awesome kids of our community.

One of my goals is to personally meet each and every faculty/staff member of the Walton County system to form a strong basis for open communication. To accomplish this I will immediately make this School Board position my full time job. Anything less should be unacceptable to the parents of Walton County. I have no political agenda other than serving the students, faculty and staff of Walton County as best I can.

Having experience in the business world coupled with the involvement of my family in the school system, I feel that I am in a unique position to see the impact of school board decisions on both the faculty and students. I feel that I can offer fresh ideas to the school board. Safety, education, communication, technology and team building will play a role in my decisions as School Board member. I welcome your input!
