Has the auction business slowed in recent weeks? I just realized I have not gotten many notices, and haven't seen any publicity about auctions....what's going on?

Maybe they finally figured out that their 10% buyers premium and outrageous seller's marketing fees are not as good a deal as they propose and that the buying/selling public is onto their fat game.
Pardon my sarcasim and dim view of auctioneers.

especially since, in most cases, the seller ends up keeping the property, but is out of the upfront advertising charges. I don't really believe that sellers are as crazy as some may appear.

there is a big one March 8th with lots of houses in Miramar and on the 14th the estate of Charles Faircloth in P'City has condo's, houses and D.
O.'s all over Panama City Beach...but they still don't offer many properties absolute.

I think sellers are holding out hope for the "Big Spring Seller's Blowout." I expect auctions will pick up again after hurricane season--probably sponsored by the banks (without balloons, drinks or snacks )

The Sotheby's Real Estate auction is April 5. There has been a huge response from sellers. And I have registered some buyers already even though we have not officially released the properties. (I don't have the details on which properties have been chosen yet). The officials have been very detailed in the process- only choosing those that are true candidates (contrary to popular belief, these are owners that are not in distress). I have no doubt that the Sotheby's Auction will be the most successful real estate auction event on the Emerald Coast, I mean THE beach.

Forgive me if I didn't make sense when I said not in distress: what I mean is they want to stop carrying the property now, and are in a good financial position to sell it without trying to get an unreasonable amount (2005 prices would be unreasonable). They would not be accepted into the auction if they had unrealistic expectations, as the whole purpose of the auction is to be successful. You'll see.
