I have not had the sushi there but ate Thai for lunch and it was good.

Sunny the barber says the best sushi is at the Sandestin Hilton.

Do they use local fish/seafood to make their sushi?

I've tried them a few times and still haven't been impressed. It seems that they have way too many options. They can't figure if they are a Thai rest. or Japanese rest. I've tried a few items from both sides, just not feeling it. If I'm in the mood for Thai, the Thai Elephant is great. As for Japanese, at least sushi, I'm very partial to Yoshi's (Old FL., Camiells, Harbor Docks).

Now, I don't mind sitting at the outside bar enjoying a few adult beverages while the wife does damage on the retirement fund. Always a good laugh watching the little kiddos playing.

I have to agree with sandsquatter. Of course the only time I was there I did have something called sushi pizza (don't ever order this) and it was truly gross. All of the other food seems incredibly average. If you want Thai food go to Royal Orchid.

Is this place a chain restaurant? I echo your recommendation of Royal Orchid. And as I always say "whenever possible say no to chain restaurants!"

I don't think it is a chain, perhaps a large company with multiple different restaurants, but never heard of it before it opened.

I'm going to have to agree with sandsquatter and sowalgayboi.

I have eaten lunch there a couple of times, and it really is just average. I havne't tried the sushi, but I had a couple of the Thai items. The curry was just okay. I also ordered a cup of Thom Kha Gai (Chicken Coconut Soup). I was brought something slightly different (read: not what I ordered) which ended up being pretty good until I realized that the chicken in it wasn't fully cooked.

I certainly wouldn't use undercooked food in one experience as an excuse not to go back. But with so many other great places to eat in this area, people just need to pay better attention to the food they are serving if they want to retain some customers.

They serve "sushi pizza" at Harbor Docks and it is yummy (and not at all like the italian pizza topped w/ sushi I am sure some folks are imagining).

Tried Sushi Siam once and it was okay, but not great. I had some sashimi tuna that was a bit old, but we were trying to make a movie time so I ate it anyway and regretted it.

I have been there once and it wasn't bad;the rolls were good size and tasty. Sushi Siam does have some good specials during Happy Hour. Tues- Destin Locals get 50% off rolls, Thurs- Ladies get 50% off rolls. I think there is a Military night also. I still favor Harbordocks but will probably give Siam another try.

Well all I can say is that the search for good sushi is still on!!
