I loved, loved, loved the way the Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty handled Allstate Insurance Company today. At a hearing requested by the state, Allstate punted. The commissioner told Allstate to go home and not to come back until it was ready to act professionally & answer questions the state had asked.

Further, he said Allstate's license is under review and they cannot sell anymore insurance in the state until this matter is resolved. Hence, Allstate cancelled their planned rate increases but at that point it did not matter.

I wish Kevin would kick every insurance company just this way because our present governor does not have the ba**s to do what Kevin did. Kevin better watch out this could lead to bigger and better things for him.

This is true.

If the standoff continues, though, I will hope the state will look into offering some assistance to the Allstate agents (small business people) who might suffer long term. Or at least determine if it is necessary. I don't know how much income comes from renewals vs. new policies.

Assistance for allstate agents??????????????

Their residual income still goes on. Just no new policies.

I think the state would spend its time better looking after the people who pay for these outrageous policies, not the ones who benefit from them.

The insurance agents would not be high on my list, certainly not as high as about a zillion real estate agents who are currently sucking wind.
