Is there a place to do monthly rentals for a bike even in Feb?

Also where do you buy Beta fish or even a goldfish in the area, I know the local Wal-Mart did not have a fish area the last time I was in there.

For bike rentals, check with Big Daddy's in Blue Mtn Beach, or Yellowfin Sports in Seagrove. I bet either would work with you on a monthly rental, but it might cost more than the bicycle. Call and ask. I might be very wrong, especially in the off season.

Cannot help you with the fish.

I thought this was a new takeout restaurant.

Can I ask why a beta fish is required?:idontno: Such a curious request, especially when you are also asking about a bike rental!

My daughter that is moving to the area really likes to have a pet and since that is out, she wanted a small fish. Beta's are very easy to care for and don't need much space.

She also wanted a bike while in the area and I really don't want to haul one from Memphis down there.

I thought for sure it was going to be some sort of feminist thread, ala "a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle." :floor:

Petsmart in Destin has beta fishes...

only on SoWal could two perfectly innocent questions lead to such diverse responses. :floor:

Thanks about the Petsmart, did not realize there was one and SJ has giving me some bike suggestions.

So it seems we might have our fish on a bike after all.

Petsmart is great for fish,

keep your receipt and if it dies within 2 weeks they will give you another fish for free....

I know it sounds crazy but when you get several fish and several die it all adds up. plus I am frugal when it comes to certain things...

Is she keeping the Beta Fish for only the month?

An idea on the bike rental. You might ask the bike stores I named, if they will sell you a used rental bike. You might come out better, financially, and you could donate the bike to charity when you are done, getting a tax write off.

No, she will keep the Beta Fish for as long as the Beta Fish is with us. She will be there 4 months, and then he will come home with us. We have had Betas live for years. They travel really well.

Good idea about the bike. Thanks

Do they make good bait for Blue Crabs? if so, I wouldn't mind a Beta or two.

That was my thought, too...sadly...

Does anyone here have any experience with those folding bikes? I really, really miss throwing my bike in the back of my pickemup truck to come down there. (Not that I miss the truck!) I could probably get a bike rack for the MINI, but I think my bike is almost as big as the car.

(I don't really need a fish, fold-up or otherwise.)

The fold up bikes do not look like they fit the normal size humans correctly, but for that matter, most of the cruisers don't properly fit either. They are fine for cruising the hood, but you can mess up your knees if not properly fitted and biking for numerous miles at a time.

:floor:I cant believe you would say that....I just wanted it for a pet. I have seen where you take a plant and put it in a tall vase and the beta lives in the water with the roots of the plant...

My husband and I had both had fold up bikes. We sold them. I was too short for the bike and ended up hurting my myself on the bike where I couldn't ride again.

I'll just tow the MINI to the beach behind my bike...

I think the winter "snowbird" rates are very low for bike rentals. I remember asking once out of curiosity (this was the place in Seagrove). So, it's definitely worth asking different shops for their rates. The bikes just sit there all winter anyway. Maybe they rent the older ones that they're going to sell used cheaper. I bought a few of the old ones and they've been working great. I feel like a real beach bum when I'm riding them. Someday, we'll paint them up like Paradise Taxi and include several SoWal stickers. But right now, the chipped yellow paint is fine with me.

Unless it's really cheap, as long as you don't need a performance bike, you might be better off buying a cheap one at Target or Walmart, and then donating it to Goodwill when you're done with it.

We have a "Snowbird Special" at $75 for a month, including free delivery.

Our bikes are not the typical "Wal Mart" type bikes. Ours are aluminum alloy for light weight and corroison resistance, and retail for around $250 at a real bike shop.
