Just read this. Thought I'd pass along. Lucky for me I grew up out of state.

What test scores would they be able to access? :idontno: Your standardized test scores?

The education/school reports I've seen have been either schoolwide-assessments, or by grade level within the school.

There's actually a minimum number of students per grouping that needs to happen in order for the state to publicly issue a grade for that group. So if a publicly-funded charter school only has, say, 9 first graders and the minimum group number is 10 students, there is no public report on that grade for that year because it's felt that that small of a group would allow to somewhat identify how individual students performed, and is not good from a privacy standpoint.

Google has also partnered up with the State of FL to try to make accessing County websites within FL much easier.

I looked at that program and it appears that he counties are going to have to allow them to crawl their servers. The law of unintended consequences would mean that we can expect some releases of sensitive information over the next several months.

Just wait until the day when you log into Google.com to turn on the lights in your house, or turn on the oven to warm the pot roast.

Hmm. Public records on the county website include marriages, divorces, property ownership, etc. So you could Google someone's name and get all that in one fell swoop? From anywhere in the world?

That is the working theory. Also remember Google is wants in on the old television spectrum that is clearing up after we all go to HDTV. Google is getting into the cell phone business. And since they already have Google Earth with the 3-D side views, how long before they are able to activate all of our camera phones to see just what is going on in the world? Of course they will be stripping out all the personally identifiable information.
