Grocery Outlet in PC

I ventured into Grocery Outlet in PC (at Hiway 98/18th and Beck) yesterday looking for chiles for some Mexican and Caribbean cooking. They have quite a selection, as well as lots of other Mexican ingredients you can't find at Publix. Chorizo, crema fresca (the white cheese for Mexican food), etc. Although, oddly, not a single fresh tomatillo, which you CAN get at Publix.

Their meat prices are stunningly cheaper than Publix. We were on an expedition and couldn't buy any (it would have gotten hot in the car). Has anyone tried their meat?

In my experience pork has always been cheaper and fresher in mexican markets. If the beef is a lot cheaper than Publix it may be because it is select grade rather than choice. The fresh tortillas from the other thread sound great I'll stop in and look. Crema espesa is wonderful for many things like a looser sour cream...usually. Thanks for the heads up. I'm surprised there is enough of a native mexican base for the store to exist in Bay county anymore.

Oh, it's just a regular grocery store that has a lot of Mexican stuff.

Maybe that part of PC is where the Hispanic population resides - within two or three blocks of the store, there is El Milagro (a good authentic Mexican restaurant), La Michoacana (a Latin market that's more lunch counter than market), and a couple of taquerias.

Unusual as it seems, the name of the store really is just "Grocery Outlet".

I love the Grocery Outlet. TreeFrog is correct, their selection of Hispanic foods is quite extensive.
And the prices really can't be beat.

My favorite Mexican restaraunt is across from the Long Beach towers right next to Pompano's. The food is definitely authentic since I don't know where else has tongue as a meat choice, and the prices are excellent. I think a dinner for 2 runs around $10-$15.

We have bought meat from GO quite alot. Thick slab bacon and a whole ribeye for smoking is yummy. I guess I need to make a trip b/c it is smoking weather....:clap:

Sorry I don't normally look for tongue on a menu regardless of cuisine. :puke:
