As requested...Baked French Toast Casserole:

a 24 inch baguette sliced into 1 inch slices
6 large eggs
3 cups whole milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 stick butter

Butter or pam a 13x9 inch baking dish. Arrange bread in one layer. In a large bowl, or blender, mix eggs, mile, vanilla & 2/3 cup brown sugar. Pour evenly over bread. Cover & chill 8 hours or overnight.
Preheat oven to 400
Melt 1/2 stick butter & 1/3 cup brown sugar in a small pot. Whisk until well mixed. Drizzle over the top of casserole and bake 20 minutes.

Optional....add 1 cup toasted pecans on top and 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries before baking.

serve with maple syrup.

This was delicious and I love the idea of prepping it the night before.
Going to try it this year around the holidays.

Just curious, have you ever tried it with multiple layers of bread in a smaller baking dish?
