Does anybody know where I can take my kids to pick out pumpkins? We're new to the area, and haven't seen any pumpkin patches, or just somewhere to stop and pick them up. I saw them at the Winn Dixie in Niceville, but I don't want to take my kids to the grocery store to pick them out. We usually take them to a big farm, that sells pumpkins in the fall, but haven't seen any of them around here. If any body can help, Thank you!

Good News church on 98 has a big pumpkin patch. I heard Seaside was going to have one, but I don't know if it happened.

Owl's Head, located in Freeport, is having a big pumpkin to-do today. You can select pumpkins and take a guess at the weight of Walton County's largest pumpkin.

When I was in college, every year all the architecture students carved Jack-o-Lanterns and placed them in the courtyard of our building at Auburn for all the local kids to enjoy.

I loved the sight of hundreds of carved pumpkins all lit up in our courtyard!

We should get all the SoWallers to carve a pumpkin, pick a spot and a time and have a huge Jack-o-Lantern display somewhere.

Anyone in?

From the Auburn Architecture website this year:

Funn, Funn, Funn!

18th Annual Pumpkin Carve (http://www.cadc.auburn.edu/soa/index.php/news/2006/10/06/18th-annual-pumpkin-carve/)

http://www.cadc.auburn.edu/soa/blog/wp-content/upload/images/events/pumpkin.jpgThe Auburn University chapter of American Institute for Architecture Students will sponsor its 18th annual College of Architecture, Design and Construction Pumpkin Carve October 27th in the Dudley Courtyard.

The public is invited to view the array of “spooktacular” jack-o-lantern designs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“The pumpkin carve has grown from a small student competition to a community event that attracts hundreds of people,” noted Dan Bennett, dean of AU’s College of Architecture, Design and Construction. “Each year visitors are amazed at the traditional Halloween and current event themes that are used by our students in their designs for the pumpkin carve.”
This year, more than 350 pumpkins, many with intricate designs and current event themes, will be judged on creativity, appearance and craftsmanship by university, civic and business leaders from the Auburn-Opelika area.

The college encourages the community and students from other curricula to come out from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to participate in carving.

Yes !! How can we organize this?

I'm the idea man; organizing is best left to professionals:cool:

Uh, I guess we decide when and where. Then we just solicit SoWallers to carve a Jack-o-Lantern and then bring it to the designated place at the designated time.

Halloween night is the most logical when.

Now where to do it? Seaside?
