Hi out there....I moved out of the Destin area 10 years ago and although I have been back several times since, there are quite a few new restaurants that have opened recently. I am getting married on the beach October 24th and am looking for a place to have a small (4) wedding dinner. We will be staying in our wedding clothes so any recommendations? Price not a problem. The problem is probably where we could go that has great ambience and I won't look too goofy in a wedding dress....but darn it, I want to wear it for more than the short length of the ceremony before I retire the dress.
Cafe 30A is too big, What would Cafe Provence be like? I've had recommendations for Fish Out of Water and I like the location but their website makes the interior look too light and open for a romantic meal.
Appreciate any great suggestions and since we have the limo, distance is not a problem that evening.

Try Criolla's. I am pretty sure that they have private rooms, all on the first floor, and a very good wine list.
I love D&K (Sorry Kat) but IMHO, this might be the best bet for you.

The Terrace is cozy. Not loud, either.

IMHO, I think Cafe Tango is one of our most intimate and romantic restaurants in the area. Just as you mentioned that Fish might be too large - this could be too small.
Click Here (http://www.southwaltonliving.com/2007/07/23/no-fear-of-intimacy-at-cafe-tango-in-south-walton/) for a review I wrote on the restaurant with pictures.
Hope the weather is nice for your wedding - today was sensational!

I know that Seagars in the Sandestin Hilton can arrange a nice intimate dinner. Very pricey, but worth it.

FIRE has these small intimate rooms that might be perfect for you!
Also....would be no problem getting in there in your special dress!
I know D&K's would do a beautiful job for you...just not sure about getting up the stairs in the dress
Either of these settings would be ideal :wub:for your situation..and the food is wonderful in both...
I would NOT even consider going off 30A...based on what you are looking for !!
Best Wishes!!!

D&K has a private room downstairs that would be perfect. I think it seats only four. Call Kat and she will take care of you.

There is also a cozy area tucked away upstairs. I don't think anyone will take care of you as well as D&K.

DEFINITELY....CAFE TANGO.....
best food in the area...if you do go, get the appetizer "baked brie"...
you won't be sorry...the filet doesn't need a knife....
restaurant is small, only has about 20 tables, but if your party is (4)
then call for your reservations and enjoy!!!

So sorry jules33 that you dined with us and were not impressed. I hope you will try us again. If you had specific problems please PM me....so I can deal with them. Would love to make ammends to you.
I also recommended Cafe Tango and a number of others in a PM to the BRIDE. I wanted her to know that we have stairs....and what our cuisine is. Suggesting that she call and talk to someone in each restaurant who could give her specifics that would help her night(along with the grooms and their guest) be the very best...... from location and atmosphere, to the cuisine that they would enjoy.
I have so many personal feelings about Cafe Tango that go back to 1994....when Doug and I bought that charming little beach cottage. We gutted it out ourselves and turned it into D&K's Little New Orleans Cafe. Of course painted in red, with teal and some wonderful gold. It was copied from our home....but we couldn't have a cafe in our home so we opened with as much love as we could muster going into the building and landscaping.
For almost 5 years we lived, slept, ate in that cottage giving our customers our all. Then we decided to take a break.....and much to my heartbreak and many tears we sold it to two wonderful people whom we knew would take 14 Vicki Street to the top of 30-A. And as you know, W & P have done just that! I couldn't be happier for them. They deserve many claps :clap::clap: and bows :bow::bow:!
We kept our name (D&K's, of course) as I had already started our D&K's Cafe Cookbook! The artwork had been finished for the cover...and it is a beautiful pastel of the building in the evening sun. This was something we all agreed upon.
So you see jules33 it's really about dining in different restaurants that fit our own style. And when you find those that are special to you then praise them....and let others find for themselves...because sometimes (a lot of times) we just like to dine differently......and that's the grayt thing about dining here in SoWal....there's a fit for everyone!!
:wub::wave: to all! Kat
The community of restaurants flung out across South Walton are like twinkling stars in the night.....do we dare to say one is better then the other? I love them all....even though I can't get to them all when I would like to.....they are family.
This is only my opinion for what that's worth!

Shelly - Thanks for the compliment on my site. I very much enjoy your comments in the Real Estate section here at SoWal also.
I also agree with many of the above that D&K would be a good spot as well. It's great right at sunset for the gulf and sky views, and then when it gets dark and the lights are dimmed - it becomes more of an intimate, romantic setting.
Kat, I also enjoyed reading about your history at the current site of Cafe Tango. I used to dine at D&K at that locale in those days, and you guys did a great job then too. And as you say, the current owners of Cafe Tango are doing an excellent job.

Thanks :bow:Ronnie.....You described the ambience going from sunset to a more romantic setting wonderfully! I love the cafe at lunch time too....so much light coming through those windows and so many sights to see out of them.
Thank you and I am so happy to hear that you dined with us when we were at the "old" D&K location. Many of our locals in the industry called us the "Matchbox Cafe" back then.... Fortunately it didn't stick!
And, to add to my other post....Cafe Tango  was the first to send us a Congratulations and Best Wishes Card when we opened after the renovation! Their whole staff signed it too! Now, that's class!!!!

:welcome: Sun Biz! So good to see you on.;-) Thanks for reminding us all about that tiny dining room. It's awwwwfully spooky down that long hall these nightz.
There is also a cozy area tucked away upstairs. I don't think anyone will take care of you as well as D&K.
SGB....you are a sweetheart! We do love to pamper....especially if we know it's a birthday, anniversary, etc., etc.,....just give us a reason. :drink2:

There's a great little place in Holiday Plaza, Miramar Beach, called Fat Clemenza's. I think it's exactly what you're looking for if you like great Italian food. 650-5980

I don't like to toot my own horn to often but I have to say the corner table at our open air Gazebo, facing the sunset is about as romantic as it gets. Just another option and congratulations on your wedding and a happy, healthy life together. Dave @ Bud & Alley's
