We're going to be in SoWal for most of Oct and we'll have most of the family down at some point or another.

I'm thinking about a trying to line up a half day fishing trip.

I'd be interested in recommendations.

Thanks

Please let us know the number of people that you want to include on this trip. Different boats and captains have different capacities, due to licensing limits or simply the size of the boat. There are many good fishing opportunities in October. Who to recommend? It depends on number of people, fishing experience and expectations of your group, personal preferences, etc.

We'd be glad to assist you.

All of the above are good solid choices, and Capt Larry Pentel, "Dead Fish Charter," also does a great job. Saw him out there yesterday, with a full catch.

Back on the Beach

I came back to Seagrove and ran 5 days off the beach at Grayton. Went back to Indian Pass to fish a TripleTail Tournament and then right back to Seagrove to run holiday weekend trips off Grayton. Lots of truck time !

Alas, we did not place in the tourney. The winning fish was a little over 20#, 2nd was 15# and third 12#. Our biggest was 9 1/2#. We saw 11 (did not throw at 2 as we had a bigger fish in the box allready)and boated 6. We never saw a big fish. All the winning fish were caught blind casting to structure close to the river around Appalach. I guess in the week I was gone the big fish left the Gulf and moved up the Bay. We had a big time and probably caught more fish than anybody else-- just not the right ones. Congrads and kudos to the winners, they had the fish figured out. I stuck to my favorite way to spend the day -sight fishin'

Back in S. Walton the bite is pretty darn good. My trip today was a 4 hour with 2 couples that were severely injured from vacationing hard last night. After the first hour we had 1 red snapper, 1 trigger and 1 wermillion in the box. The old second wind kicked in and we finished off the morning with 12 Red Snappers, 2 Gag Groupers,3 scamp, 4 triggers, 6 Mahi and a couple "odds and ends". A very respectable catch but I tied on a bunch of hooks that are now jewelry on some fine snappers and groupers!

This Labor day weekend is the last big hurrah for most vacationers. Starting Tuesday the beach will be empty, Most days (other than Sat) there will be no other boats on the horizon. Septemebr is a great month to live at the beach! No lines at publix, the air temperature drops a few degress but the Gulf is still bathwater warm. The fish start to gang up and I can go down and watch some spectacular sunsets on the beach with nobody else around. With only a few days booked a week I get to huntin' spots and catch a few fish myself.

If your lucky enough to go this month-enjoy! It just doesn't get much better.

PS- I caught 4 doz sand fleas real quick last evening ( put 'em in the freezer). The pompano should start showing later this month and it's good to have bait in the freezer. If you have a spare hour at sunset it's always good to be prepared----

Probably about 4 of us. (I am guessing that the ladies won't want to participate, but that could be wrong. I'd better check on that.)
