I am curious as to where this jewerly came from? Is it yours personally, or do you own a jewerly store in Indiana and you are trying to move it down to SoWal? :idontno:

Yes, I closed the jewelery store in Indy suberb 3 years ago now...and have been selling on the internet for 10 years.... In July 07 I just loaded up the car and headed South...landed here in Destin.... I do trunk shows, live shows at resorts and travel the Caribbean Islands in the winters...however this year I decided to stay here in SoWal...been looking for LTR up near Grayton Beach and Seaside areas Old SeaGrove....haven't decided where yet... Also looking to open retail store in Grayton Beach area Spring, '08. Will offer fine jewelery in the shop, sea critters and beach gems pearls, etc... for now..I need to move some goods so I can plant a palm tree and stay awhile.... :) In other words...grow some shallow roots.....and watch your incredible sunsets...

You should be aware that there are two high end jewelry stores in Grayton, 1) Kent, Ltd and 2) Rock Hard Designs

Smilin Joe thanks I didn't know... But, that is why I posted to get your input... Please feel free to suggest a location.... ??? I need tourists...and perhaps just Spring to Labor Day...then close shop and go to the winter trunk show format...in the Caribbean...returning to reopen in the Spring? If you have any ideas you are most welcome...to post. I don't wish to open until Spring 08.

Caution Sowalers. Something just doesn't seem right. Aleigh, I've been a cautious buyer only on EBay since 2000, and I don't think I've ever seen so much negative feedback about an UNREGISTERED SELLER? ever!

misplaced, the link doesn't seem to work. I couldn't tell good stuff from crap, so I just don't buy any of it, and I, personally, would never buy jewelry, other than a Timex, online. Maybe its just me, but I would feel much more comfortable buying expensive things from a jeweler who has been long established, which gets raving reviews from customers. That is just me.

I'm not an Ebay shopper, but I find it difficult to believe that a seller rating approval score of 98.6% is terrible. Am I missing something? I read the negative reports, and see that many of them were multiple complaints from the same two or three people. In the last year, she also has 2461 positive remarks from buyers. It seems to me that with that quantity of sales and having 98.6% positive ratings, she isn't doing too bad. That is not saying that a few people have not posted terrible ratings, but overall, it doesn't sound so bad.

Okay. I'm totally confused again. I just reviewed the ebay site again and see that many of the sales are for items priced at $.99 Is this a way that sellers can buy their own stuff and leave good comments, or competing sellers can sneek in a win a bid on something in order to leave poor ratings for the seller. It seems that the people who complained on several items, were all for $.99 I also see some people really bragging on the seller over $.99 items. The whole ebay ratings system seems a little fishy to me when people start doing this. Aleigh, anything to say about this?:idontno: Why would a high-end jewelry dealer be peddling $.99 pieces, which have a shipping cost three times the amount of the item?

Be very cautious! For someone who works in a jewelry store there is alot of lab created gemstones on the market. They can fool you very easily.

I asked her to explain the numerous $.99 items sold on ebay and the good and bad ratings for the $.99 items. Still waiting to hear back from her. It is likely that anyone buying expensive jewelry will want to know that the seller is very reputable.

I buy quite a bit from e-bay and personally, I would not purchase from this seller. This seller, in the last month has over 50% of her transactions resulting in negative feedback. She never posted anything addressing the problems and that can easily be done.
Plus, she is listed as NO LONGER a registered user. E-bay may have received several complaints and "unregistered" her.

I just feel that if someone is selling high priced jewelry they should be able to produce references and also explain that if they were the seller on Ebay what the problems were.... [I am in the market for a ring but as I am sitting here watching an old Tyra Banks show about spotting fakes in jewelry, bags, hair, etc. IT has taught me that many people just can not tell....Sometimes it pays to be skeptical

Florida Girl, there certainly is enough feedback information on eBay to warrant caution. If like SJ someone is unfamiliar with eBay, her 98.5% positive feedback sounded pretty good. But, when you dig a little deeper there was obviously a problem.
I only cautioned, not "condemned." I think there is probably a lot more to the story than is any of our business.
Aleigh, if you're still out there, I hope you find what you're looking for. Peace.

Ty all... I wish it to be said I was on eBay 9 years did you see the about me page? I sold pink peruvian opals to a hollywood studio jeweler who designed with my gemstones a necklace for Reese Witherspoon to be worn in the Summer 2008 release of her new movie "Sammy" and also a bracelet to be worn by Emma Watson "the magical bead"-- who plays Potter's friend Hermione in the upcoming 2010 film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows... Finally go a little further back on feedback prior to July 2007, I had a 99.9% positive feedback rating on eBay I have over 10,000 customers from all over the world... What went wrong???
Prioir to April, 2007 I sold karat gold, gemstone jewelry on eBay the first 8.5 years eBay is so wholesale driven...I decided to try something a little more profitable... you know don't sell one ring and make $100 sell 100 items and make $1 then you have 100 new happy customers who will return and repeat business, and not just 1 happy new customer who may return in a year for another birthday, Christmas or anniversary gift.. So April/May 2007 I launched a new venue...store stocked over 2000 listings...and I began selling genuine gemstone beads...partial strands 7 inches or even one genuine emerald (tumbled polished rough nuggets) yes only .99 cent on auction and over 200 .99 cent auctions per day...what a hot summer...busy busy working 20 hours a day sleeping only 4 hours a night. Summer used to be dead slow on eBay for me. Now for the first time in 8 years I had 4 shipments a day going out to the PO in Indy.....By July I was overwhelmed...I had 3 teens helping with the pack n ship...and July 31 I jumped in my car...loaded up all the merchandise and relocated here... Now what went wrong? 97 complaints of slow or no shipping of .99 cent auction goods... Here you have a seller nearly 9 years of service... offline for a week with relocation issues...and eBay hits the magic button and destroys everything 9 years of dedication service, 99.9% positive feedback rating..gone in 60 seconds due to non receipt complaints from 97 winners of .99 cent beads...hello 99 cent auctions?? Are you kidding me? They win an item for .99 cents..and then they expect it to ship today...well with the move shipping was suddenly not 1 or 2 but nearly 3 weeks backlogged... So the recovery has been difficult...I've been offline since Labor Day Holiday Weekend...and I'm doing what it takes to get back... Islandgirle will return to eBay... Keep in mind I would not have used my real name there nor here if I were hiding..and I'm so happy you put us together... You will all be welcome in my retail when it opens...then you can be judge and jury...in the meantime I appreciate your support...both the judges and the jury and the guy who stuck up for the defense...YOUR HIRED! :)

I found what I seek....SoWal...the beach and life offline.... You work too hard on the internet...with no life outside of the puter...I had to close the laptop....get in the car...and drive to where you can see forever... I'll be back online in time...but alas this jury I wish would go a few more pages through the negative issues in July and travel back to April, or even March....prior to July 2007 life was grand.. Islandgirle on eBay was rock steady with a record of 99.9% positive feedback with Islandgirle showing over 8 years of a proven sales record....and over 10,000 satisified unique customers from all over the world!

Thanks for letting us hear your side of the story. I know several people who sell on ebay and I know it can get quite difficult at times. Many buyers think that sellers are house moms who are dabbling in it but for many it is their main source of income.
why didn't ebay let you try to work out the problems? I won 2 cell phones a few months ago. The seller would not respond to any of my emails about a question that I had so I did not send payment. I received several notices from ebay wanting to "tarnish" my purchase number  , I emailed ebay about the problems I was having with the seller and the issue was dropped. I never bought the phones, did not give bad rating to seller, and I did not get any marks on me either. I understand that sometimes in life there are things that you can not control.;-)
Best of luck to you.....

The relocation.....I made 3 trips to Indy in August 800 miles one way! ...and the last trip my car broke down in Alabama..... I was offline only 5 days...but alas eBay had attempted contact through the site..and had no response...they can also tell that you are not logging in nor addressing issues ask the seller a question, etc.... Basically today I am in a situtation with the burden of proof... I have to prove 600 orders with delivery confirmation...I have to prove instock merchandise with vendor receipts....I have to prove I exist...here in Florida...with registered address, local bank, etc... The whole process is overwhelming..and while I work by day...even Sunday...I take a break to see the sun set and remind myself..there is life outside of eBAy. I had my phone number listing on eVeyr page on eBay, even on the about ME page...but no one there bothered to pick up the phone...they just pushed the magic button and POOF Islandgirle was gone in 60 seconds... The burden of proof could take as long as 30 days...but I expect to return to eBay by 1 October...and if not sooner...then the question remains...do I re-invent Islandgirle....or let her struggle to regain her 99.9% status of positive feedback..it could take months! And as the one I wish to continue to point to the fact that the .99 cent auction buyers are brutal...they are cut throat and out for the kill... Whereas before the .99 cent brutality... Customers were caring and respectful.... They say you get what you pay for and here I say to you that the .99 cent buyer is NOT THE SAME CROWD as the $99.00 BUYER.... you see? Like Dollar General clients ( and yes I do shop there) but their overall clients are not the same as Tiffany's you see?

Aleigh when you had to re-locate did you post on your ebay store that you would be moving and shipments would take longer? I know that I have purchased many items from ebay ranging in prices. And yes I have purchased a .99 cent item. It was a costume for my son. Regardless if it was .99 cents I needed it well before 3 weeks. I also disagree with your comment about .99 cent clients are different than 99.00 clients. People shop on ebay for a good deal it doesn't make them less of a person beacause they buy a .99 cent item.

Regardless of the excuses, I feel you treated your customers wrong. You never answered many e-mails, you never put any comments on the ratings page, basically, you left people hanging.
Since you were in the middle of a relocation, being a seller for 9.5 years and knowing the time and energy the e-bay storm took, you should have stopped any auctions until you were finished moving. Or AT LEAST notified your angry customers, the one's you never e-mailed back, a reason it was taking so long.
In this type of situation, communication is the key.
Good luck.
