Ok, I have direct tv and it has been messing up ..screen says searching for signal or it splits the screen etc. I finally decided to call today, when I FINALLY got a human voice she explained it would be 70.00 for a service visit. I also ask about getting a HD box thts another 120.00 for the new box and so much more a month. I'm unhappy about this whole deal:angry: :angry: :angry: and don't really have much choice unless I cancel it. Thanks for allowing my to vent.:banging:

I despise DIRECTV. In particular, I hate the interface. I pay for it at our daughter's place in Midtown Atlanta because they have an exclusive in her building.

When we've gotten the error message you describe, first we've done a power cycle. If that doesn't work, there are some on-screen diagnostics you can do. I can't take you through it step-by-step because I'm not there. We've had more success with that than calling tech support.

Dish network is not much better! I really think I'm going back to the dreaded Mediacom. Someone told me not long ago that they thought they heard that Knology is coming into Sowal. Anybody know about that?:idontno:

I got my directv from Radio shack a long time ago, haven't had any considerable problems. Perhaps because Radio shack installed it.

I had DirectTV for about 4 months. Lost the signal all the time for no apparent reason. During that time I must have gotten a call a day from their sales department trying to sell me something, even though I ask them to stop.

I changed to Dish and haven't had any big problems at all. I have had DISH almost 2 years.

I am happy with Dish so far.. I lack a CBS station it seems though. I will get rabbit ears for OTA signals or do w/o TV before I return to Mediacom.
