Dean is very ugly and dangerous, but it appears not to be a Florida issue.

Stating that, L92 is has a forcast to grow and possibly become a TS/Hurricane. Unfortunately, it's long-term models show a track to East Florida and possibly into the GOM in a week or so....stay tuned.

FYI - that first link takes us to a log in page for the bulletin board.

Also from Mark Sudduth:

We now have a new threat developing in the Atlantic. A large tropical wave situated east and north of the Leeward Islands is showing signs of organizing. In fact, the NHC has designated it as "invest 92L" which means it is more than just a blob of clouds but not quite a tropical depression. This gives it an identifying number and the "L" stands for Atlantic. This is helpful for early computer models and the first intensity model that I just took a look at shows this becoming a hurricane in less than five days. The movement appears to be westerly for the most part and with building high pressure over the Atlantic, this could be a real problem later in the week. It does not look like it will get picked up and turned out to sea like we saw so many times in 2006. I am sure the Hurricane Hunters will be out to investigate the area just as soon as possible as it looks like steady development is taking place. I will post another update near 5pm ET today on the very active tropics

the weatherunderground link worked fine. It was the hardcoreweather link which was a dead end.
