Investigators are left with little information to help them determine who struck a pedestrian near State Road 30-A in Bay County.

A Bay County Deputy Sheriff found the pedestrian lying the eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 98 at about 6 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. He was found just east of 30-A.

The man is Hispanic but since he did not have any form of identification on him, his name is not known.

He is in critical condition at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. He suffered brain injuries.

“It is unknown why he was in the roadway or what kind of vehicle struck him,” the investigating trooper wrote in the report.

Anyone who may have information concerning the crash is asked to contact Trooper C.M. Sisk or Corporal C.D. Chapman at (850) 872-4150.

Where is 30A in Bay County?

I think Bay County begins right after Rosemary Beach. I know that Rosemary Beach had a Panama City Beach zip code until they established their own. Also, I believe Inlet Beach is in Bay County.

Correct me if I am wrong please.

I think it was just a poorly worded sentence which should have read "...help them determine who struck a pedestrian in Bay County near State Road 30-A."

That sucks though.

No Bay County starts after Inlet Beach. It starts at Camp Helen, and is about a mile east of where the sowal 30A ties back in to 98. Is Back Beach Rd both US 98 and SR 30A in Bay County?

Inlet Beach does have a PCB postal service. Just east of 30A on 98 would be Inlet Beach which is in SoWal. The county line is just west of the Lake Powell bridge. It could have been just across the line.

The "A" in 30A stands for alternate. It appears Hwy 98 is also Hwy 30 and when the coastal road seperates from Hwy 98 it becomes "30A". I noticed on a trip to St. Vincent Island, the coastal highway was 30A.

Thanks for the clarification, maybe its' Front Beach Rd in Bay County then.

Thanks for the clarification, maybe its' Front Beach Rd in Bay County then.Maybe, but I would guess it is as TNJed stated, because everyone in Bay County calls Front Beach Road, Front Beach Rd, not 30A.

30-a picks back up all over the coast. Over by Port St. Joe it starts again.

Hwy 98 in Florida is technically State Road 30. Hence, the 30-A.

Poor guy...

He could have been fishing on the lake with his buddies...I have seen several hispanics fishing in the area on the north side of the bridge...almost every week
