I'm quite confused that our only evacuation route is clogged daily with a left turn into the Tom Thumb only a few feet from this major intersection, left turn is allowed going north on 331. I've witnessed several near tragedies in this area. How do we get this allowed turn eliminated from use???

That would be under the Florida Dept. of Transportation. It's a state hwy.

FG is correct; if changes are made to the highway, that's a DOT issue. The best case would be for Tom Thumb to modify their in/out, but since they have gas trucks and delivery trucks, that may not be practical. Plus, until someone dies and they get sued, they likely wouldn't consider it anyway.
But I agree - making a left turn across 331 (going into the parking lot, or coming out) at the Tom Thumb is pretty scary.

denying the entrance from the left turn would have the eastbound drivers required to make a uturn at one of our busiest intersections to enter from the south. not the best scenario. possibly a little more vigilance is the answer.

That's true. I didn't think about that. But it's still dangerous, no matter what you do.

just a couple thoughts.......changing lanes within 100ft of an intersection is illegal and turning left across a double yellow.....youre a stupid fellow
while we are at it how about the 65 mph sign 300ft from jd miller ...makes it kinda hard to pull out on 98 going west.
I think they did there traffic study from google earth..
