So, what about this article? I suppose you guys have already chatted about it, but I didn't pay attention. I was told Walton County was having a budget cut?http://www.thedestinlog.com/articles/article.showarticle.db.php?a=1504

The County is cutting back on the budgets, but much of this park is hoped to be funded by grants. The County can find many more ridiculous things to cut back on, but we need a few public parks.

I vote they spend the money on the park for the kids they are currently using to send the sheriff's dept to enforce "private" beaches!

This is a different piece of land - the Playpark (large playground area that the Mission Playpark group has been working on) is going to be at Helen McCall, not at the Towncenter. Unless something has changed in the last few days, the Towncenter and Playpark info have become a bit mixed up together in this newspaper article- makes it very confusing. Sounds like the story writer put 2 stories together for one.

Thanks for clearing that up, Jdarg. I attended the BCC meeting and thought I understood the two separate parks clearly, but this article confused the heck out of me.

The article was only about the Towncenter Park concept. Helen McCall was not even mentioned. So, how confusing could it really be?

It was really confusing because both parks were brought before the BCC at the last meeting, but only one was mentioned in the article, and the people interviewed for this article are helping to organize the other park, which isn't mentioned. The funding and grants are slightly different for each of the parks.
For the general reading audience, there is probably no confusion, but knowing the people being interviewed, I was a bit confused as to which park was which.

Your nght SJ, I assumed we were talking about the Helen McCall area, but the same could be said for both areas. I'm just happy to see the publicity and things starting to happen.
