There were some hilarious houses last year! Some did a great job and some had quality inferior desecration! Haven't seen this year's crop yet - hopefully the color palettes have improved.

We hit the Hwy 20 ones over the weekend. Hammock Bay tries hard, but just can't quite shake off the air of tacky. Canopies, I think I saw last year, and was pleasantly surprised that they were actually trying to leave some of the young oaks in place. Windswept Dunes is still pretty McMansiony. One of the Niceville area homes was painted entirely in pale lime green inside. I liked it, but it was kind of an odd color choice. The Parrish was trying way too hard to be New Orleans- the furniture seemed far too formal for a Florida home. Would have liked that one more with a contemporary furniture look that was either sleeker or more relaxed.

We tried to find Cross Creek, but the southbound 331 traffic was getting pretty bad by that point, and rather than getting caught up with that on the way out, we ended up cutting through some Eglin roads to get going west on Hwy 20 again. Got to drive past the space junk tracking center out in the woods, which ranks as the coolest building I saw all day long.
