Apparently, some Gulf-front owners in Gulf Trace, appear to be hoping that by pushing their crap into piles on the beach, that it will act as a geodune.:idontno:
If there is good news, it is that earl moved his cattle trailers.

"Come on little doggies..we're not wanted here anymore"....said earl.
I assume they were piling it up, to pick it up.

Maybe, but it is really close to the water line, and they should know that a storm is on the way. I guarantee you they don't have plans to move it tomorrow.

Is this the recently built house w/ no rebar that suffered gaping concrete holes after Dennis, or is it farther SE down by Alligator Lake outfllow...?
This is just stunning and disappointing to me. kurt, these fools have no intention of removing, SJ is correct...

SJ...how long has this debris been on the beach? What law(s) cover this reckless act? I'm trying to give the person to whom this junk belongs the benefit of the doubt. It isn't easy. I'm sure you will be saving these photos for future use.

Moondance,
Off the top of my head, I cannot tell you which houses in particular this debris is piled in front. If I am in GT, I will be able to tell this one. I saw this same type of debris in front of one other home there. I was only looking from the street, though, and there may be others. Looking at the picture closely, you will notice that the concrete was removed from the foundation of the house, and has been replaced with white, imported sand. I have a feeling that that sand will be out at sea come Tuesday.
Chances are that if the owners left the concrete where it was, it would still be washed out as debris. Perhaps Kurt is correct that these folks are honestly trying to remove the debris. Unfortunately, not all people have foresight.

Unfortunately, not all people have foresight. There are at least two that suffered substantial concrete displacement, some is foundation, other are driveways formerly resting on dune/sand support. After Dennis, there was no longer any support and/or the force of the water displaced the concrete slabs. In one home (big blue new), there was no rebar in the concrete carport and it has two gaping holes about 15' diameter.
Not sure why the debris was not removed but clearly it should NOT be on the beach, now or ever !!

Nice geotubes Mr Perry. I for one am glad Lee Perry was not elected as County Commissioner. This is the example he sets.

Dammit. :bang: :bang: :pissed:FYI, this is a picture of one of the examples of concrete failure that I referred to. I'm not suggesting this owner is responsible for the concrete pile on the beach, but it will give a sense of scope of damage and lingering effects of Dennis.
Note SJ's image #6 on the below link:

The surf can be clearly seen in the house on the right where the carport used to be. There is another huge hole where the carport on the other side failed as well. Thanks, SJ.

We were checking out the waves at about 6 p.m. from the steps of our walkover in Seacrest (not the development). The waves were already coming to the steps and hitting the dunes.

We should all keep things in perspective. We lose steps to our beaches, others lose everything they have. After this, the board will go crazy talking about the "market," while others will be talking about where to go, what to do, where to live, where to go to work. I'm having a hard time for "poor me's" from South Walton this time.
A five foot storm surge in the Bay could put water in my home. But the misery of others over the next two days will pale in comparison to my own.

I hope everyone with rentals in SoWal will reduce their prices, or perhaps wave the rental fees for people from New Orleans and surrounding areas who need shelter. We could be great neighbors to the states to our west. Please at least consider doing this. Please, these folks need our help.

WU - You are so correct - we do need to put this in perspective - I was so happy to see my son and his girlfriend get home safe and sound today after there visit down there- that our properties don't even seem to matter. During Ivan and Dennis I kept thinking about our material things - this time all I could think about was getting them home safe and sound. My heart goes out to all the people in NOLA.

Welcome to the BRIGHT side!!! I, too, worried for a while during Ivan, then I had a real ephiphany...this is our SECOND home, the stuff is insured and there is nothing one can do...so I just put my energy towards the people, creatures and natural beauty of SoWal...it made much more sense and brought real calm to me.

No doubt the contents of that (former) pile of concrete are now providing additional destructive mass in that area... :(

It may be buried, I don't know. It sure looks like it could be a good trap for sand. I certainly hope it did not puncture Lee Perry's geodunes. That could mean in addition to the construction debris, dirt could also be spread all over the beach.

Class action suit anyone? I really don't believe in suing for suing's sake, but I feel strongly that these violators need to be punished. Sorry...I promised myself not to get upset and emotional about this right now...I have stepped off the box.
