Last time we ate at Dewey Destins, the dolphins were having a great time! I bet we counted 8 or more! Great entertainment along with a great lunch!

can you give me very specific direction to Dewey Destins?

what can I expect to pay for a family of 5 (2 would be eating a kids meal)

It's on a little street right before you go over the Destin bridge heading out of town. Right behind McGuire's. Tiny street...turn right and then left at the next little driveway....

It is not expensive as far as I remember. We had burgers, fish sandwiches, tuna salad ect and with beers and soft drinks, I believe for the 4 of us it was in the 30.00 range. Well worth it, my kids love the pictures we have of the dolphins swimming by us as we ate lunch!

Anglers on Okaloosa Island next to the Gulfarium is a good place too. Eat outside on the (covered) deck, the dolphins off come by and there is a playground for the children.

Dewey Destin's can work well because even if there aren't dolphins out, there tend to be a lot of other birds, crabs, and such to look at. It's a counter service restaurant, place your order, find a picnic table on the dock, and they then bring your food out to you. Fish sandwich and fries runs about $8-$9. Friend baskets are a bit more, and I don't remember the kids' menu.

They can get very busy during the summer and even busier on the weekend when boaters from Crab Island come by for some food. I'd either go early, or call in a take-out order on the way there.

There's also a Crab Trap in the Boardwalk beach complex on Okaloosa Island that's okay for food but not outstanding.

Dewey Destin's is located on a road called Calhoun. It is the last road before you go over the Desitn bridge to the right. Immediately when you turn on Calhoun take the 2nd driveway past some shabby looking buildings til the road ends. Dewey Destin's is a little shack on the water with picnic tables on the dock. Great fish sandwich.

We just got back from Destin and visited Ft Walton quite a lot. We thought about Dewey Destin's, but decided not to because we were not sure if they'd have a high chair because it is so casual, so if you need a high chair, I'd call first. We have three kids ages 8, 6, and 1 1/2. We ate at: The Black Pearl (expensive)... but in a cool area, the coolest I've seen for kids because there's a nice playground RIGHT ON the BEACH! AWESOME. There were other restaurants there, including the Crab Trap (which is everywhere, but we never went to that one) We also ate at: Gilligans (nice view of boats, the kids liked it), and Pompano Joe's on scenic 98 was really nice as well, but go between 2-4 to avoid waiting. Food here was the best fish we had on the island. All the kids meals were expensive... at least 6.00, most of the time we paid at least 7.00. We got smart toward the end and just purchased an adult meal and split it for them... for only 8.00 total for two kids. Gilligans only gave my kids 1 chicken finger and 5... I tell you, ONLY 5 french fries. Thank goodness they messed up their order and the kids got two orders each because it wasn't enough food for them for just one meal. The kids meals in general are a rip-off everywhere we went. And there were NO kids cups. Fine for older kids, but my youngest wants to drink out of a cup with a straw like his brothers and styrofoam just doesn't hold up to a 1 1/2 year old. Have FUN! We did!
