  If you picked up the Walton Sun today you couldn't miss the ads for Bud & Alley's Taco Bar. They were scattered throughout every section of the Walton Sun and immediately made me start craving a Taco. I couldn't stop thinking of Taco's. Every turn of the page it seems they were staring back at me....beckoning me...luring me to Seaside for Taco's and Tequila. Dave what a great advertising technique!!

i agree, it is a good looking ad, but the plural of taco is tacos, not taco's

Being the grammar Natzi is my job. Didn't you know that?:floor:
I'm definitely craving some tacos from Taco Bar! I was going to cook a gourmet meal tonight, but at lunchtime we decided to paint the trim on the house, and we just finished most of it.http://home.earthlink.net/~beachrunner/faint.gif :yikes:

Tacos there are good. But $4.00 for a tiny cup of salsa and a small basket of chips? Not good.

Just as a comparison, Taqueria del Sol in Atlanta charges $2.99 for chips and three types of salsa. That seems pricey because most Tex-Mex restaurants offer free chips and salsa, but then Taqueria's entrees are less expensive than most Tex-Mex restuarants. I imagine that Dave's fixed overhead is a lot more than that of the owner of Taqueria (a big Georgia Tech fan, BTW) is.

Dave, would it be possible to offer a combination of tacos and chips? I know that we would love that option and be there more often.

Here is my one suggestion for Mr. Taco  ...(I did tell him in person).
Most of us are not used to paying for chips and salsa, but I wouldn't mind if the price of the salsa and chips was lower than the guac and chips. Here's one thing I know...paying for chips and salsa keeps you from stuffing your face with mindless eating!!! I think the Taco Bar is one of the best things to happen to our area in a long time.

Thanks for the input as always Sowallers. We do actually have three types of salsa. One that comes with the chips and the free ones on the salsa bar; tomatillo salsa and the Roja or hot selection. If you run out of salsa you get a free refill. And the chips in many mexican restaurants are not made fresh daily they are commercial grade chips from Sysco. We make everything fresh every day. Yes, my overhead is totally insane; the highest rent in this part of the world I am sure but I am not complaining I love being in Seaside.
Thanks for the good word on the ads Kat. It's been really fun getting all the feedback on them. They really seem to be getting a lot of attention. Carol and I can't wait to come back and eat at D&K's! Tell Doug I'll stick my head in the kitchen next time.

 Dave I didn't know this would go from great advertising to "what you need to change at the Taco Bar". I'm with you...no one really understands the overheads of our rents, etc. unless they are a business owner here. Although, there are those that are smart enough to get it and support us.
I just got back from a resort area in Orlando and let me tell you Seaside prices look cheap (food wise) compared to what we were paying. Keep up the good work and I think it's so neat to have something new and different for our area.
I was sorry I missed you and Carol that night you came in. Doug was really upset that he didn't get to come out and talk to you. And, he would have loved for you to come in the kitchen! Next time!!!;-)

Please, oh, please...tell me this new taco bar has fish tacos?!? And that they will give me a hunk of lime to squeeze over mine? And do you use red snapper in these fish tacos? Be still, my heart!

Yes, they have fish tacos! And I love the corn tortillas. Not sure what kind of fish it is - didn't have on glasses that day.
Hope you're okay, gull.

I understand perfectly about overheads at Seaside. And I said the tacos were good. I would think "Dave" would appreciate some customer feedback. And BTW, I did not see, nor did anyone point out, any "salsa bar" to me. We simply paid our $23 for our chips/salsa and three tacos and were on our way.

Kat--
I didn't mean that it was your mistake .... the print ad itself says "taco's"
It's a small criticism, a pet peeve. The food & atmosphere there are great.

I'm with ya Jimmy. It seems to be a usage native to this area- everyone uses an apoatrophe to show plural, when an apostrophe should only be used to show possession.:bang: I see at least one sign or ad everyday incorrectly spelling a plural of something.
What's up with that?
OK- grammar moment over. Back to Dave's rockin' Taco Bar.

Had lunch there today. YUMMY!!
We had chips and salsa, chips and quacomole, shrimp taco, chicken taco, and steak taco. Could not say which was my favorite because they were all excellent! Everything was fresh and delicious!
Yes, each one had a lime wedge Donna.
OH! You have to try the sangria, we had the white wine sangria with fruit in it. It goes down a liiiittle too easy! ;-) They also had red wine sangria.
Thanks Dave, we will be back!!

As any B&A regular knows, prices start to magically drop and freebies appear as you become a frequent visitor and familiar face............
Everything listed sounds like a yummy bargain to me!

The fish tacos are made with the fresh fish of the day. Today it was grouper. And yes, it is served with a lime wedge. If you want more, just visit the salsa bar. We keep extra limes there!
