There is some seriously prime commercial land on the list there. It will be very interesting to see how it sells and what it becomes.

On the other hand, Destin seems like it's maxed out on strip malls at this point. Seems like they're having a hard time getting tennants into the Marshall's/Fresh Market plaza area. The Crestview parcel probably has the best shorter term upside, since they're actually still getting new residents up there.

Those condos are primo if you like that sort of thing.

There had been 2 parcels of land along 85 and I-10, one north and one south of 10, that were cleared and had signs telling about the shopping mall being built. Both signs went away. The one north of I-10 changed to a townhomes coming soon sign for a while and then it too went away. There was also a bank that had been built up on the North side of town that was never allowed to open. We found it odd while we lived up there that there were so many homes being built, but no place to make or spend your money. The is also nothing to do in your spare time. A great friday night date was dinner at Applebee's and then on to Lowes until they closed, and then topping it off with a late night walk through Walmart. We tried a movie one night but they sent us home. They wouldn't show the movie unless there more than 5 people.

At one time, we were looking at Crestview homes south of I-10, and were impressed at how much home you could get for the money. And then we got past the subdivision mounment and realized just how far away we were from everything we loved about the area, and how it would be a hike to get to what we thought of as resembling civilization.

We decided we didn't want to wait 10+ years for Crestview to get interesting, and bought a smaller home closer to the beach.
