View Full Version : Tatoo Parlor in SoWal
Someone mentioned this in another thread and when driving on 98 today, I saw it was true.... A tatoo parlor has opened up in SoWal in the same plaza as the post office, right next to the video rental place. I remember reading somewhere that Destin had greatly restricted where these could be located, but I guess we don't have any such restriction? Looks like they've opened just in time for spring break.

I saw this too and almost wrecked the car.
Guess I better stay away from the Jumbos at Coco's since the new tatoo parlor is verrry close......

  I thought they couldn't do that here:idontno:I was incorrect. It was just the strip clubs which are not allowed.
By the way, I would be more concerned about County Commissioners not following the rules which they create, rather than a tattoo business opening. Tattoos don't make people bad.
I bet Kurt would give someone $100 if they they get a tattoo of SoWal.com (like the stickers) on their body. Who will be first???
I won't put it on my forehead, but I'll take $50 to put it somewhere else!

And do I get to specify? And watch?
And do I get to specify? And watch?
We can make it a multiple choice and it depends on how many JUMBOS I have first.

I say keep the tatoo parlors in FWB and PCB
It's not that I object to tatoos there's just something "cheesy" about a "tatoo parlor"

:idontno:Cheesy? I have never thought about using Cheesy and Tattoo business in the same sentence. Have you ever been to a business which inks tattoos? If not, go there, and then come back and tell us if you still think it is cheesy. Live on the edge a bit, and keep an open mind. ;-)

You have a point SJ, maybe that's it, I have never walked into a parlor.
I'll take your advice and check it out. I'll get back with you on that one. ;-)

When my daughter was in Sarasota She said it was so boring and no culture. I went to a Tattoo Parlor and found out she very mistaken... You would be real surprised who has tattoos and who hangs out a tattoo parlors ;-) .

I just read that whole thread for the first time. SO twu, so twu.
As for Tattoo parlors; there's nothing wrong with saying they are cheezy. If you don't know any better, and your only experience is driving by on, or in the case of PCB, TWENTY, then, yes by all means, call the places cheezy. Just realize this is not true for all locations.
I had mine done in Fort Walton Beach when I got out of USAF in 1991. The place was clean, respectable. Wasn't sleezy or cheezy at all. But that was before the tattoo explosion. Now they're on every corner in PCB along with body piercings and head shops and its a big turn off.
Since then I have accompanied a friend to get hers done, in New Orleans. We were staying at the Frenchmen near the corner of Frenchmen and Esplinade. Across the street there was a very nice, Hospital Clean, spotless, eat-scrambled-eggs-off-the-floor immaculate establishment; and we're talking a couple hundred year old brick and cobblestone floor!
Anywho I've been meaning to go back there and get mine redone, but if we got a group of sowalians going, and there are at minimum margaritas or the like involved - did someone say JUMBO?- then count me in!

I want one but I will have to stick (no pun intended) with an artist I know AND trust. Who is the artist and how sterile it is- is more important to me than where the location is......JMHO!!!

I got a tat at the new place (Big Tiki Tattoo) yesterday. I met both artist/owners. Both seem like good men. The place was spotless, needles were brand new, and then disposed of when my tat was complete. Prices were better then right, and my tat is a beautiful, 9 color, piece of art. I was very pleased with Grumpy's work. Not my first tat. Five stars to this operation. Great work Grumpy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, Sowal.com is beautiful but my compass rose was more my taste.
I think the same compass rose is going on the roof of the art car. It is taking some "heavy" diplomacy because it is very complicated and ornate and the brilliant artist I am asking to do this work will need to be in some uncomfortable positions to paint this on the roof of the car.
