Just finished perusing Kurt's new photos:clap_1: :clap_1:

First love the diversity of the area....just reinforces why South Walton is such a special place! A few thoughts/questions....

1. Modular home....unbelievable, not like the ones around here! How is it built to current hurricane codes and will its ability to withstand strong winds be comparable to other traditionally built structures?

2. Alys Beach...While I like the uniqueness of the development, I never quite understood the reasoning behind it. The pics (before the pool is finished) remind me of the ruins my daughter is seeing in Egypt and Cyprus. Wiithout seeming too dense....are they attempting a Mediterranean feel?:idontno:

Again amazing photography....:clap_1:

Thanks!

1. The new idea house is an example of a factory built home that is advanced in many ways. I believe we'll be seeing more and more of them. The cost is about the same but it only takes 1-1/2 months to build as opposed to 6+ months, which is a big savings in interest and gets a family inside sooner.
In one of the photos you can see a guy bolting 2 sections together. And each section has hurricane clips attached to the footers. The manufacturer is establishing a factory in Mississippi to be closer to the action here and in Lousiana.

2. Alys Beach is unique and has a heavy mediterranean influence. I think anyone who has been to Greece, Turkey, Sicily, Morocco, etc. will appreciate Alys Beach more, and might even feel romantic about it. If you aren't used to the style it might take a little while to get used to it. Once you spend a little time on the property, I'll bet you come to really like it. In addition, when you see the thoughtful elements of design and quality of the craftsmanship, you can't help but appreciate and admire what is being created. It's truly world class, and that's no marketing hype. And keep in mind that it's still early and there is a lot more to come at Alys Beach.

YES!! :clap_1: Kurt's photos are fabulous as usual, and I was so very happy to see them today! I can't tell you how much I look forward to the local photos you and others post. Thanks a bunch for giving the rest of us a taste of the good life!

P.S. to Smiling JOE - I am loving my calendar. It hangs on the wall right behind my computer monitor, and I enjoy it everyday! Thanks to you as well!
