Here's a link to the home page of the Walton Sun that has an article about a writer staying at Seaside who has done research on the evolution of this area and other parts of Florida. Seaside property was not necessarily "the place to be" over a century ago. Interesting reading and someone should tell the researcher/author to look at SoWal.com! Sounds like the research will turn into a PBS special in about a year. Interesting things happening around here.

Thanks for the congrats on the 2000, jdarg. I' definitely buy the book and go to the book signing if I was in SoWal. (I'll get the book when I'm there.) Hmmm, wouldn't it be interesting to have an annual SoWal history fair in which people who have info about the history of SoWal or the panhandle were given booths on a nice sunny day where they could show photos and share what they know about the history of the area? Sounds like an Alys Beach type or Rosemary Beach type event. That would be a modern version of story-telling that communities used to use to keep history alive and pass on their cultures to new generations.
