Probably broken. I'd imagine that it takes a specialized repairman to work on them. It's happened before.

Maybe it's an August thing, happened to us last year, never got an answer or at least the one we wanted to hear. This year fountains were on for our little ones the entire 14 days we were there in July. Hope they get back on for you...

The Village of South Walton common areas are owned by 3 banks, so deal with the fountains is that HOA keep the area cleaned and the Banks maintained the fountains. Also the fountains nozzles haven’t been change in almost a year…if notice the fountains are not shootings as high as they use too. BTW this is the last time the fountains were running when took this picture last week.

We just got back home after bringing my grandkids down for the week and the fountains were still not working. We were a little disappointed, but not for long...there's always so much to do, and the beach conditions were PERFECT! I haven't been down since February...I was amazed at how much of that wonderful fluffy white sand was back on the beach! Water temp was perfect and as always, the sunsets incredible. Can't wait till next visit!

Wow, that's a gorgeous picture, Surfrider.
We were there in June and my kids loved those fountains. Ug, now that I'm thinking of Sowal...I am missing it.

I've heard the deal is as someone else stated, the Banks that are in ownership of the common areas. I've been working trying to start some activity/businesses in that area for several months now and all too well know the frustrations dealing with "the villages". Good news is, the "kiosks" and fountain area have sold and hopefully the new owners will get something going there. We're trying desperately to open a little biz in there very soon....hopefully all you SoWal'rs will support our efforts to keep the economy going!

Just heard that it's going to cost $15k to fix the fountains and the banking that bought that area is balking at the cost of fixing the fountains.

...in a way it's good to hear the at least one of the banks "get it."

I know the kids love to play in the fountains, but considering the cost to fix and maintain them (and how much water they use) is there a better alternative?
Maybe some playground equipment, a sandbox, something like that?

The fountains were the defining feature of Seacrest to many people and drew quite a few people during the summer to the shops and businesses there. I use to take my daughter there at least once a week just for the fountains. Once they were not working, I had no real reason to go there with so many other amazing places along 30a. I have a feeling that the fountains will be operating just fine next tourist season, the local businesses there will make sure of that.

I know, that is why I was trying to think of something else to draw in the kids that would be more cost effective for the new owners.

...in addition to 15K to "fix it"--how much do you reckon the continuing maintenance and operating cost for that feature would be for 6 months?

I agree with Douglas -- they really were a great draw! Unique in the area . . . a playground just wouldn't do it! However, without much business going on around it, it doens't much matter. hopefully the area will fill out and the fountains will get going again!

Ditto with Douglas. It's like going to Seaside without the post office.

OK, as a new business owner in the Villages, we are so hoping something will get worked out with the fountains. Indeed they do make a huge difference in the traffic in the area! Unfortunatley no one seems to want to take "ownership" of the area so I don't know if or when anything will ever get done! That makes us sad and frustrated!

Well the pumps have been sitting in 6 inches of water for a week or so. The power has been cut off for sometime now,so the sump pump cant' work in the conrtrol room. The control room is below ground.
