Throwing garbage on 30a

I happened to be behind a Isuzu Trooper yesterday heading east on 30a past 395 when I noticed a cup flying out of the window. Went on a little further & candy wrappers start flying out. Next was a couple of lorge cups with ice still in them still further down the road. This stuff was being thrown on the path in front of people walking & riding. I could not believe it. Driver & passenger were 2 young men who should know better. They turned on Lakewood drive. I should have followed them, but after 8 hours on the road, I was just ready to get home. It was a brown Isuzu Trooper with FL. plates & a SoWal sticker so I'm pretty sure they were not tourists. Today I am kicking myself for not taking the time but confrontation sometimes can get a little nasty with kids today. But it does bother me that there are some people out there with such little regard for things like this.

Creeklover will become famous soon enough
should have called the law and reported them if they went that far with trash flying out the window. Maybe their was a deputy in the area that could have stoped them and had a talk with them about it.

Back home in Bham after a glorious week with folks in Grayton. I can remember a time when, and still may be in effect here, a citizen could call local officials with the tag number of cars whose occupants were observed littering. It was a system that tracked reports by tag numbers. The first report earned a notification letter..ie, "we have recieved a report..". Second report, we have another and should we recieve any further reports, you (vehicle owner) will be fined in the amount of....". Next fines and mandatory litter pick up duty. The community must decide how seriously you want to take this but I would think , as a tourist mecca because of the beauty of the area, you would want to "motivate" people...Of course all this relies on the services that are provided to the community and paid for by taxes. But hey, you get what ou pay for...

I'd bet they live there full time. I won't take long for SoWallers to get the message to them; a little public embarrasment goes a long way. Out em!!!
