Hey everyone, tomorrow is our last day here and I would love to see clear water before I leave. We are currently in Seagrove, are any of the other beaches clear, I can see brown water back in NC . Should I go over to Shell Island or will it be just more of the same???
The Gulf water should settle down in the next couple of days. It is mostly sand (yeh!) which is clouding the water. That sand will later push onto the beach. The loose sand has been building our dunes very nicely over the last few days. It is obvious that the cloudy water is just at the shore, so I don't know if Shell Island may be different. You might call the place which rents boats and jet skis for Shell Island adventures, and see if they can give you a clear water report at the Island.

It's OK. If you have small kids, hit Eastern Lake in Seagrove or Western Lake in Grayton- calm water at the outfalls and still on the beach.
If you would like to see emerald green water you have to head west right now. The swells in the gulf are coming from the west. The waters east of the Destin Pass will be brown and murky do to the bay/river waters flowing from the west out of the pass. Being a longtime surfer this is just a local theory.
